| Beerking721 (10), , Minnesota | | November 30, 2008 Located in a small square shaped building with a vineyard inspired mural on the outside. A small parking area provides access on the north side of the building. Upon entering, spirits selections were placed on off-white shelving on the walls and numerous aisles of wine with a substantial number of case stacks present.
Beer selection was somewhat pleasing but I had envisioned more emphasis here since these guys have recieved numerous accolades in the past from Citi Pages. A decent number of bombers, 6-packs ect. measuring a variety of imports, domestics, and macros. Mostly what one would expect to see - not any surprises or "wow" factor.
Really wasn’t offered any service other than a greeting and check out but they thanked me for my purchase (Lion Stout) and invited me to return.
The decor of this place is straight out of the 1970’s. Many of the neon signs would now be collectables. The stand alone coolers have had a high degree of use and the handles on the large beer co | | mnoutdoors (10), Allover, Wisconsin | | November 1, 2008 Kind of a diamond in the rough...nice selction, nice people, and fairly decent prices...great neighborhood store. | thejoeshow (7), Saint Paul, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | June 18, 2008 From the exterior you would think this place only sells wine but you are in for a nice treat on the beer selection they have too! They pretty much have everything you’d be looking for minus a couple of things here and there. You can almost bet that if it is in the market they have it. The staff is wonderful too, no one trying to show you how knowledgeable they are AND they are willing to sit and talk beer with you, if you want. The prices are average at worst, and really good at best. Pretty much everything beer shoppers need. | | WisconsinBeer (10), St Paul, Minnesota | | March 11, 2008 The store itself isn’t very large, so the selection isn’t huge. However, there seem to be some beer geeks that have started working here lately, because the beers seem to keep improving. Selection rotates, but it seems that you can always score something mildly hard to find here. Not a go out of your way type place, but a definite stop if you’re in the area. | | KAF (68), Coralville, Iowa | | October 22, 2007 Nice little store. The staff was more than willing to answer my questions and help me find what I was looking for. Not a huge selection but what they have is good stuff (some Bells, Avery and Rogue as well as a few imports and Minnesota brews). | | JK (118), Richfield, Minnesota | | April 10, 2007 A nice enough store, upscale appearance and focused on wine. I would describe the selection as quite small, but they have some good things in the rotating selection. Worth stopping by if you are in the neighborhood. | | Stine (59), St. Paul , Minnesota | | February 17, 2007 On the corner of Grand and Prior, so it’s not that bad of a drive for you folks across the river. Highlights: port, sherry, and calvados aged J.W. Lee’s, along with several vintages of harvest ale. Aged Aventinus - 2002 and 2003. They had 2005 V12 but now it’s mine. Select expensive sixers broken up into singles which is thoughtful. Superior sake choices. To be expected: Slightly above-par Belgian, German, and English selection and out-of-state 22 oz. selection. All in all a very worthwhile shop with some unique choices. |
