| Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | April 18, 2012 Tucked away in the gigantic Westfield Stratford. This place provides respite for people adverse to shopping. The place has more a modern beer cafe feel that a pub. Good chilled out music. 3 keg beers and 6 cask ales were on offer when I visited including two of the Tap East beers which were tasty. I reckon the bottle selection is now nearer 100 and they even have a menu! Bottle list included lots of Belgian, US and UK microbrews (including kernel). They now have pies and nuts in means of sustenance. Also beer is available to take away in growlers. All round a pleasurable experience and an essential visit if you have been dragged to Westfield against your will. | | Boudicca (205), London, England | | March 4, 2012 A stylish (but draughty) new brewpub on the fringes of the huge shopping centre in Stratford. It has six hand pumps with their own beers and guests, 10 keg taps and c.50 bottles with plenty of choice for the discerning beer drinker.
(Visited 14 January 2012). | | shoulderbroken (60), Tokyo, Japan | | February 13, 2012 Was interested to come here and finally made it. Was a little disappointing, but then again it is a pub in a shopping centre, and the atmosphere is undeniably affected by that. Decent enough selection with quite a few cask and keg. My visit wasn’t helped by the freezing weather. It was very cold inside, but I realise this won’t be a problem all year round. Shame that the bottle menu didn’t quite reflect what they had, but only a small quibble. Hope the place does well, but given the location can’t imagine I will be here very often. | justm (4), , England does not count - explanation | | January 20, 2012 Friendly bar/brewery tucked away at the far end of Westfield in Stratford City. Quite an odd space feeling both open and enclosed. Good selection of tap from mainly Belgian (Chimay, Duvel, de Koninck, Lindemans) breweries but UK and US beers also feature I was told, including Stone Levitation coming in March 2012. 6 cask beers including 2 house brews - John Edwin bitter and Four Hop when I visited. Good selction of bottled beers from US (Stone, Ommegang, Flying Dog, etc.), UK (Thornbridge, Marble, Meantime, Magic Rock) and especially Belgium (from Trappiste to Gueze). Can get quite cold in the evening so a member of staff informed me as it relies on the heating from the shopping centre. Brewing days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Food available but not sampled. | | Brugmansia (32), Jylland, Denmark | | January 5, 2012 Visited this place together with my parents, just before new year 2011. Had to go the long way through the shopping center, full of people, and was a bit worried of how crowded there would be at the brewpub. But it wasn´t to bad, nice atmosphere, lovely relaxed chairs to sit in :-) amazing how quiet it was.. Had 2 of their own beers. | | ladnewton (129), London, England | | September 25, 2011 Utobeer’s new pub and a "sister" to the Rake in Borough Market. Opened recently with Westfields in Stratford, and plans to begin brewing within weeks. On my visit of 17th September I enjoyed Brecon Genesis and they also had some Otley beers on. No food as yet but Great Eastern Market offers a wide selection of eat-in/takeaway food to suit most tastes. The pub does not have its own toilets yet - these are being plumbed in shortly and they then promise to open normal hours (currently they have to close at 9pm). The staff are keen and friendly, and this latest ale and craft beer venue deserves to succeed. |
