| Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | July 16, 2011 "Nicer" than the Smithfield store but not as groovy or beery. Go to Smithfield. :-) | | zizzybalubba (68), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | April 5, 2009 This is a very pretty, upscale looking store located at the entrance of a nice housing subdivision. Everytime I have been here the service has been great although I have found that the people know far more about wine than beer. Selection is good, but not outstanding. Much like the store in Smithfield I can sometimes find beers here that are no longer in the area. If you are in the area it is worth a look. | | ksurkin (12), Norfolk, Virginia | | April 1, 2009 damn nice beer store in suffolk. i haven’t been to the smithfield location which supposedly has a larger selection, but the GP store is closer to home. selection is pretty solid for a local store. was able to pick up brooklyn black ops, lagunitas hop stoopid, and some others. good representation of local brews and big name special releases. very friendly staff that will hold beers for you if you ask them. pretty decent value and good selection of wine if you want to take your wife/gf/etc. good place to get hard to find beers if the more well known stores are out of them. | fredferrell (2), does not count - explanation | | October 13, 2007 I cannot say enough good things about Bon Vivant. I found out about them from a distributor in VA, who I had contacted about a special beer which I was not able to get in my home state. They had it and recommended that I order it through Bon Vivant. I am so glad I did. Brenda and her wonderful staff have now helped me for over a year in getting real hard to find beer. Because of the rapid growth in the craft beer industry, it is almost impossible to know every great beer out there. They have turned me on to quite a few, which speaks highly of their beer knowledge. Thanks Brenda and Mike for everything. | | Trooper11 (15), Suffolk, Virginia | | August 4, 2006 Small business, very friendly people who remember you the second time you come in. Pretty good selection for a wine shop. Beer is a few pennies more then say at Farm Fresh but I enjoy going there. Nice selection of non-alcoholic sodas too. My 7 year old son likes going with daddy to the "Beer Store" as he says. He mixes his own six pack of root beers and feels grown up. | px2grafx (3), Virginia Beach, Virginia does not count - explanation | | July 30, 2006 Very nice spot for the new Bon Vivant. It’ s about 15-20 minutes closer to those coming from Virginia Beach than the Smithfield location. The staff was very friendly and offered samples of beer, wine, cheese, crackers and chocolate as soon as we walked in the store. They definitely don’t seem to have the selection that the Smithfield location has, but don’t get me wrong- there is a lot to offer here. Because this spot is a little closer, I’ll probably end up here more than the other location. A must see if you’re in the area. | | Immy (107), Virginia Beach, Virginia | | July 11, 2006 Second location for Bon Vivant - congrats to Mike and the crew on the expansion! Tastings the 1st Friday of the month. A must if you are in the area, excellent selection and a friendly, beer-savvy staff. |
