When I visited: Early August 2014.
What I had: Jackís Abby Leisure Time Lager, Founderís Nitro Oatmeal Stout, Beachwood / Heretic / Stone Unapologetic IPA, and Victory Prima Pils on tap, Chicken Quesadillas for myself, Chicken Fingers, Fries and several glasses of white wine for the Mrs.
What I liked: Very impressive draft list, well laid out beer menu, reasonable prices, bar area is nice if you can find a seat, I enjoyed all of my beers.
What I disliked: Food is mediocre, rough and unwelcoming crowd gave us the "not from íround here" stares, service was slow at first but improved as the night went on, not much ambience to this place.
Would I go back? For drinks, yes. The tap lineup is awesome, my girl liked her vino, and once you get used to the divey atmosphere, itís not so bad. But I wouldnít eat here again.

We stopped there in late January with the Finger Lakes Beer Trail winter Passport. Very nice sports bar with a great beer selection. They had a few different sampler flights listed. Did not like that they were set in stone and not able to pick my own beers for my flight.
A: The place has a very laid back feel to it, you can see that it kind fo tries to have an irish motive on the exterior but there is very little decor on the inside.
Q: They have probably one of the best tap lists that I have seen in New York State. They had some beers on tap that I have never seen and most of them were solid quality.
S: Service was decent, bartenders were willing to provide samples and waitresses were a little lax but nice.
S: Solid Selection...69 taps of all different varieites and spread across the country. They were getting Founders on tap for a while now even though there is no Founders distribution in the area.
F: Food was solid...at our table we ordered Chili, Reuben Sandwich, and Cajun Chicken Quesadillas and everyone really had no complaints at all.
V: Beers were all reseasonably prices, food was reasonably priced.
Overall, I would say that this is the premier bar stop while in Syracuse. Enough Said.
Stopped here on two days in a row. 19 and 20 July 2013. The reason I went backĖto-back days is simple, the draft list! 69 Craft taps that change on a weekly basis. (it even changed the second night we stopped in) The bartenders are knowledgeable on most aspects of beer and we had one very good bartender on 20 July that made suggestions and knew exactly what she was talking about. The food is standard pub grub. I had hot wings (with sweet potatoes fries) one night and a Caesar Chicken wrap the other night. No problems there, just standard. Honestly, J. Ryanís is the best place to grab a pint in downtown Syracuse. It has all the other watering holes in that area beat hands down.
November 2011. A worthwhile stop. Lots of brews on tap, though my Breckenridge Vanilla Porter was served slightly warm and under carbonated. The other guests in my party did not have the same issue. Daily beer specials and on good microbrew, not macro junk. Iíll stop back again next time Iím out that way.
Had a great time here. Good mix of people, young, older, beautiful, not so beautiful. Great tap list, service was eager, although when she brought the wrong pint to one of my friends, and he called her on it, she first tried to pass it off as "thatís the way the one you ordered tastes." Umm, he ordered a chocolate porter, and you brought some kind of amber ale. Quite a gap to cover there. Anyway, despite that we all had a great time.
Wonderful local bar where everyone comes after work. Crowded at times. Loud but the beer selection is excellent. Droid fluid on cask, vanilla bean brown home of the slogan Iíd tap that....69 different ways.
Went here after playing in a volleyball league. Had a better selection than most on tap. Usually had a couple of their new arrivals on special which was nice. Ambiance was good, not alot of the college crowd. Service was a little slow however. Good place for a beer.

This place has an every changing selection that always surprises. Every night there are two beers on special, crafts of course. Ever changing taps make for a great experience and tasting night. Sometimes a big surprise with whats available. Pitcher prices are also good. Good menu for food, especially the nachos. The porch is ideal in the summer and fall months. Service was great with really fun wait staff. Definitely a good place for a drink, and in a good location. J. Ryanís is a weekly visit!
A good replacement to Kelly Coleís and McGregorís. Same amount of taps, good quality, out of state and imports avaialble, and very good service...one thing though...the food was not that great....oh well. As with MacGregorís, they have take out beers availabole for sale at decent prices. A definite stop.
