Very near the Nanjing MRT stop. L-shaped wooden bar with no rail. Dark wood padded stools at 12-place bar. Ome table at outdoor patio. Non-smoking! Back room with TVs and pooltable and foosbal. A dozen low tables and a half-dozen booths in the main room. Two flat-screen TVs showing sports without sound. 15-foot black ceiling with fans and ducting and stage lights. Raised level back room with faux red brick walls. No happy hour for beers.

This place has atmosphere there is no doubt about it. The theme is sort of Australian/South African/Rugby. I know that’s a little vague but that’s how it feels. The pub itself is large and spacious and has a solid wooden feel. There is table football and pool. Plenty of tv’s as well as a projector for bigger matches. They offer a ladies night and a pub quiz with prizes to boot. There is a narrow area outside which you can sit at but it’s not advised in the summer as it’s too hot. There is no happy hour and prices are higher than most of the competition. They also charge for service. They do however give out complimentary food from 6-7pm. Max the manager is always about and is a cheery sort. If you miss western bars and your In the Nanjing East road area give the monkey a visit. Say hello to Gordon the bouncer also who happens to be a legend of Taipei.
