If you are into beer it’s worth a look, but this is all a stage managed place. No brewery tour. Some interesting exhibits particularly the advertising area that has some beautiful prints of the old posters featuring Japanese beer girls. There is a drinking area which serves draft beers. You buy tokens and get the beers. They do about 5 beers. It’s very good value for japan and a few locals drop by straight after work, although it closes early. Also has a shop selling glassware and trinkets.

The museum was fine, but not as interesting as other brewery tours. The real reason to visit is for the bargain beer tasting. The location is convenient to the public transport.

il museo è veramente molto bello soprattutto come strutturato, la degustazione di birra è un po’ limitata e le birre beh sono quelle che sono.... il cibo che offrono si limita a dei cracker troppo piccoli e pochi che non bastano neanche per la prima pinta :)

The museum is quite small, with an explanation (both in japanese and english language) of the history of beer in Japan and of the Sapporo brand itself, with a room dedicated to advertisement through the years. The Tasting Lounge at the end offers a choice of Sapporo beer, including a couple of Ales and some more hard-to-find Sapporo brews. Worth a visit, if you’re in Tokyo.

Interesting history of Sapporo and it’s growth over the years. I found the advertising history to be the most interesting. Also has nice videos about the brewing and malting processes. At the end of the tour is a tasting area where (for a price) you can try many of their offerings including a couple you wont find elsewhere. Unfortunately I got there shortly before it closed and they were sold out of Sapporo Ale, but they still had the Weiss on tap and it was surprisingly tasty. Worth a visit if you’re in Tokyo.

The Yebisu Beer Museum commemorates the original brewery. You can get an English language pamphlet when you go in but you have to ask for it. There are seven areas in the museum: the Yebisu Memorial Room, the Gallery (beer advertising history), The Science of Brewing, World Beer History, the Magic Vision Theatre, the Tasting Lounge and the Museum Shop. There is also a restaurant called "Beer Station". Very friendly staff and good fresh beers. The Head office of Sapporo Breweries is also close by the museum, and the area is called Yebisu Garden Place, lying right across from the Yebisu train station.
