76 This is for the downtown location. Nice big space with brew works visible. Food and staff were excellent. Beer was solid, range was ok to good. Nice brewpub. Great happy hour deals on really good appetizers until 7. |
76 The atmosphere is very beer forward as there are a ton of beer paraphernalia gracing the upper frames of the building. Though older mostly non-existent beers of these days, as I looked at the bar, the frame of the bar was graced with license plates from all around the nation but mainly a ton of AZ plates actually. I really like what smelled like mesquite flavors invading my nose as I entered the brewpub but was later told it was smoked pecan wood.
The quality is based on their brews as though other beers not offered from their brewery were there, I only wanted their’s for that day. Their A mountain red ale was their best and was definitely good enough to have again.
Since it was a Wednesday at lunch before the dinner crowd showed up, I say the service was pretty good as I was able to fit in four beers for the day. I had a bacon guacomole burger, boy if that bacon was not good, then whoever says that bacon is bad doesn’t know bacon. Some of the best smoked bacon I’ve ever had on any burger.
The value was way better than some other places in the Tucson/Oro Valley area. I’ll come back here as long as my mother-in-law continues to live here.
I realize and will say this: this isn’t exactly a place for beer snobs so those hoity-toity types can go elsewhere. |
46 We visited this place on 26.12.2013. Bar is located in a huge hall, more a sports bar feeling than beer atmosphere. Many tables scattered around, but also comfortable sofas and couches. Beers are watery and below average. We had an Amber and an IPA. Have not seen the brewery. Would not come here for the beers. |
62 The food was kind of meh, but the beer was pretty good. Enjoyed a nice lunch time flight. It’s pretty cool, but I’ve heard the downtown pub is much better. |
66 Stopped in aroun 3 pm for a few flights - which are reasonably priced. The waitress brought the 5 we ordered with no identification, which posed a bit of a challenge. Two of the beers tasted a bit skunked. Hmmmm. |
74 Visited 3/3/2011 with the Ratebeer Winter Gathering.
The place is located in a busy shopping center and has lots of tables. The place is very open and comfortable. The beer is all at least decent and covers a wide range of styles. Of course they have the standard styles (cream, hefe, amber, pale), a fruit beer, and even a barrel aged beer (imperial porter). There was one server for the whole lot of us (15 or so) and she was new and didnt know much about the beer. However she tried and when she didnt have an answer she went to find out. She even put up with the losers that are the beer geeks. The food was pretty good albeit a bit over priced. Might stop back for dinner and a sample of beer or two. |
86 This is probably my favorite place to eat and drink in Tucson. Their beer is exceptional, and food very good. I’m never disappointed with Thunder Canyon. I think they have the best burger in town as well.

76 Admittedly I was worried when the person described their location as "in the mall between the Levis and Nike stores." However the bartender was helpful, the food was good and the beers were well made. I would stop here again for sure. |
70 There’s a limit to how high you can rate a brewpub at a mall. It gives Thunder Canyon an overly commercial vibe that they have to fight to overcome. They had some solid beers, especially the barrel and brown ale and the orange fruit beer. The food was substantial in portion but not enjoyable to eat. As a brewpub it’s solid but not spectacular. |
