| ultrashuai (22), Bloomington, Indiana | | December 22, 2011 A strange place. This was a standard for after work happy hours for me for years and is popular with the UA staff crowd for that. However, Friday and Saturday nights, late, this place turned into a frat bar, a la Dirtbag’s. Come Sunday, it’s the psuedo-official Washington Redskins bar in town. Then there’s all the military stuff everywhere, and they would attract random crowds, like people from DM and the federal prison crowd. Alright... Decent range of taps but only a few that are relatively rare and very good. My standard during happy hour (everything is $2.50) was the Racer 5 (Bear Republic) and the Arrogant Bastard (Stone). They may have changed those taps out, but they had them for years. They also usually had an interesting rotator and a seasonal Sam Adams.
The food is very good. Burgers and crab cakes (hard to find in Tucson) are the best, I think. They do a lot of seafood (hence the name), which is a nice niche in a non-seafood town. You pay a little more for it, but it’s worth it for the most part.
Service was never great. The bartenders are good, but the server staff had very high turnover and consisted of mostly young (probably <21) girls, so you never got a chance to ask about the beers and it was often that they barely knew anything about the food even. Inexperienced.
It’s hard to love it, but I understand it when those that do rave about it. They certainly have a pretty good slew of regulars, and they keep the bar pretty well packed. The tables can fill on weeknights, and Fridays or when there’s a UA game on TV, if you see the parking lot full, you may as well go somewhere else. | | Sledutah (151), Utah | | May 22, 2011 A bar that had alot of things going on at once, not sure what it was aiming for. At first it looked like a old dive bar, but with TV’s and some sport memorabilia and a pool table. A lot of military pictures and patches on the walls. I was dissapointed in the tap selection. 24 taps and only 8 craft beers, SN, Stone, a few locals and Racer 5 plus a rotating guest tap. Great happy hour prices if there is something you like. The food was OK. If you’re looking for some good selection of beer go down a few blocks to 1702. | | TheRealMGD (54), Lakewood, Washington | | January 3, 2011 Love this place. Great ambiance, excellent service and a solid offering of craft beers. This is a great local, with much better than average pub food selection/production and a good vibe. Sports are on the big screens, but I wouldn’t call the Trident a sports bar. The subdued military theme is a welcome accent. | jenSD (7), does not count - explanation | | September 16, 2010 This place is awesome!!
