| keanex (19), Williamstown, New Jersey | | January 28, 2012 I visited here last night for my birthday wanting to try a new place out. The place inside is a mix between a typical sports bar and a semi-expensive restaurant. There’s TVs everywhere displaying sports and a huge bar in the middle with the typical computer bar games. Typical bar music is playing which kills off any vibe of it being an upscale place. There are a lot of places to sit at for dining, but the tap list is in the way of a few tables making for me getting in people’s way while seeing what’s on tap. It’s not a place to dress up for.
The waitress was very friendly and did everything in her power to make sure our time there was great. Service was impeccable, but only because she was a great waitress.
The selection of beers on tap was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. It upset me that they listed things like Coors Light and Yuengling on the tap list as part of their 24 beers on tap. I would have thought it much better to simply advertise "18 Micro Brews on Tap!" or similar. Dogfish Head 60 Minute was there, Ommegang Abbey Ale, and Great Lakes Commodore Perry to name a few. Nothing that will knock your socks off, but better than most. There’s no bottle list though, which is odd for a place advertising over 80 bottles.
I ordered the Bison Burger and it came with fries. My girlfriend ordered the turkey burger and got onion rings. The food was okay, but both of our sandwiches were a bit dry and the amount of fries/onion rings was low.
Together we spent $42 before the tip on a bison burger, turkey burger, and our drinks, she had a sweet tea, I had an Ommegang Abbey Ale and a Geat Lakes Commodore Perry. I feel we shouldn’t have spent more than $30-$35 given the quality of the food.
Overall the service is what made the meal and night enjoyable. Beer isn’t served in proper glasses and the name of the place is a bit misleading. I would never go here again unless I had a huge coupon or something. |
