Visited here at opening time, large dining are and almost 360 bar. The bartender was very knowledgeable and very helpful. I had food and a flight for under $20. They have a rather large tap and bomber selection. Worth the visit if you have the time.

Nice place to relax and enjoy a great craft beer after a long day of amusement park fun or to party all nite long at the City Walk. Food is average. Beer is great.

The only downside to this location is that growlers are not filled here

(Visited 08/2010): Found this place somewhat by accident while visiting Universal City, although it’s impossible to miss. It is located upstairs from one of the hubs on the main drag. Valet or theme park overpriced parking are the only options, although getting your stub validated does make it much cheaper. This Strauss location has a patio/beer garden and the inside is very open. The oval-shaped bar is on the immediate right with a spacious seating area taking up the rest of the space. There is a chalkboard that describes all of the available beers. In addition there is a 6-beer sampler available. Karl Strauss in general goes outside of the brewpub-safe styles and this location is no different. They do have their standard offerings on tap and in bottles but additionally had some seasonals and unique offerings such as Off The Rails, a Schwarzbier and Tower 10 IPA to name a few. The beers were all above average. Our bartender was very personable and knew a lot about beer to boot. We did not try any food on the visit. Overall I don’t know if this place is worth visiting in and of itself but it is a no-brainer for a beer lover visiting the theme park or City Walk.

This place is a lot better than I thought it would be. I hate Citywalk but was there for a concert and met some friends at KS first. They had a bunch of very good beers on tap and i tried a few. The Big Barrel DIPA is the standout here. I highly recommend that. The tower 10 is not bad and the Marzen was surprisingly good. Food was good too. I will go back if I’m in that god forsaken mall park.

Great beer but as with most brewpubs that only sell their own beer the selection was not great. Also a little small and cramped but the 360 bar is nice.

Much like other places at City Walker, this is larger than life. Brightly lit, and very homey. The service was always average to above average. Nothing ever rubbed me the wrong way. The selection is meh, obviously because its only KS beer to pick from. On the upside, you get to try some of the bigger better brews that they are testing out for production. The food was above average, and on par with any other plate of food at city walk. Think about two notches above Applebees. The prices were fine, didn’t piss me off. Overall, a fun place, which should get better as KS beers keep getting better.

Will return again, really enjoyed this brewpub that does actually brew on site. Ambiance is a little wierd, an otherwise classy interior brought down by kegs and cases of beer randomly placed all over. The waiter was very nice. I explained that I had already had most of the standards (but their were 4 special releases that I was interested in getting samplers of (10 beers on tap total). He brought out all 4, and brought back another two of my favorite two (all this at no charge on the bill [it red 4 samples @ 0.00 ]). Food was pretty good, my friend and I split calamari to start which was great. My chopped salad was good, and he said his burger was fine. Reasonably priced too. I ended up drinking the Red Trolley, Rye IPA (my favorite), the Altbier and the Scottish/Scotch ale (which the server commented was a bit off compaired to last year’s batch). Will return.

Even though the beer seems to be missing its mark, I really enjoyed this place. Went there for drinks as they opened at noon and everyone was very nice. Came back later for dinner after a day in the park and was seated right away. Had the sampler which included a free one thats not normally included! Food was really good. I had the En Fuego burger and my girlfriend had the Talapia Fish tacos which was also very good. We finished with the cheesecake, which is possibly the best cheesecake I’ve had. Really the only reason to go here is if you are visiting Universal Studios. I would definetly recommend this place. Had a great time.

Never been here before, but excited to find a brewery at City Walk, where I was expecting to only find either high priced eateries or really low-brow fast food. Our table ordered a 6-beer sampler, and I ordered a pint of the star of india pale ale. Disappointed the waitress did not first inform me that one of the special reserve beers was a russian imperial stout, otherwise i would have ordered that. I had the en fuego burger, which was ridiculously spicy. Much spicier than any jalapeno-style burger I’ve had in some time. Overall it was pretty good. The beers were palatable and the food was okay. Beers were cheep, the food was overpriced, but still good.
