| BrewDad (239), Olympia, Washington | | October 1, 2009 After taking a water taxi across the bay we arrived to Spinnakers Brewpub and wow what a view of the entire bay. The beer better be good and after trying the taster tray I was impressed. This was going to be our final meal and beers on our Victoria BC trip. The English bitter was buttery and tasty. The dark ales where also very good and the porter was one fine brew. This place made there own malt vinegar with the beer malts so they had about 5 different flavors from English ale to porter malt vinegars. We found out you can also stay here and over look the bay all night. I am thinking next time we might try to stay here. We found the service to be very good and the food was also excellent. We will be back. | | beermagnet (14), Quebec | | September 29, 2009 great view hard to beat, almost on the harbor in vistoria, the location is great, the beer is okay but sometimes the location beats the beer! | | Maltybones (12), Calgary, Alberta | | August 2, 2009 What a great place to have a beer and watch the boats come in! A huge brewpub, that mixes spacious, open areas with more pub-like nooks and crannies. Good service, with the staff very willing to talk beer for a few moments. Great selection of beers, including seasonals and an astounding 4 cask ales in fantastic condition when I was there last. Tasters/flights are a great way to try out many of the different brews. Very pleasant food with enough options to match any of the many beers that will hit you palate. | | turboespresso (13), Port Moody, British Columbia | | July 9, 2009 This brewpub is really nice inside. So-so service. Eclectic brew selection for a BC brewpub with lots of Belgian-style brews. The food is better than average but you also pay more. This place is a little pricey. Beer is also a little better than average for the most part. Unfortunately, it is populated by a lot of yups. | | MrRoss (13), Delta, British Columbia | | July 8, 2009 Great views, delicious aromas emanating from the brewery, and I’m sure everything on tap is fresher than fresj. | boogey (5), Auckland, New Zealand does not count - explanation | | June 4, 2009 have been to the upstairs bar twice. the beer is ok overall but not uber-exciting. would go back for the nice view overlooking the harbour and for drinking beer in the sun. | Bukwis (1), , British Columbia does not count - explanation | | February 20, 2009 Nice location and feel, friendly knowledgeable staff, tasty food. Good selection of generally quite good beers. Separated into restaurant downstairs and bar upstairs. A pioneer in the BC brewpub revival. Particularly enjoyed the Fog Fighter ale and the apple pie for dessert. Due to a table/seating mistake we had to wait at the bar for 10-15 minutes, the bar tender was friendly and poured us samples of whatever we were interested in and ended up giving us five pints on the house. One of my favorites, to bad it’s out in Esquimalt and not so convenient for public transit. | | polarbeer (10), | | December 2, 2008 Had a nice night there enjoying some good food and trying a couple of their beers. Had a singer playing the night which was nice. I would stop back by if I was in town. | | Hooker (16), New Westminster, British Columbia | | October 18, 2008 Great food (had from the dinner menu) service was very prompt and friendly. Staff was knowledgable about the current beers available. A pleasant experience with an enjoyable walk along the waterfront right after. | | Nik925 (10), California | | September 2, 2008 Decent beer but a wonderful view of the water. Had soccer on TV and Nascar on the other, odd combination of cultures. I scored it low on value, but maybe its a good deal for Canada, pints were $6.00. The fries were good but not enough to give it a food rating. A beautiful, but long walk from the cruise docks. |
