| MartinT (469), Montreal, Quebec | | March 11, 2012 Grungy underground student bar featuring a non-changing Lithuanian Gyvas Alus (real beer) menu. Lots of quality to be had here, but they tend to add gas to some otherwise naturally carbonated brews, which is too bad. In any case, this is one of the best Lithuanian beer menus out there, so it becomes a must. | | Plaas (15), Alkmaar, Netherlands | | March 7, 2012 The adventure starts when you try to find this place. It is hidden in a concrete block just outside the city centre. The interior however looks cosy. This beer pub has the best selection in Vilnius, not only offering Lithuanian beers from small breweries, but a nice selection of English ales and other European beers as well. Of course I tried the Lithuanian stuff. Baked beer, open fermenting, honey beer: all specialities are served and if you want to know more, they tell you about it (as good as it gets in their English). Food is served, but we didn’t try. | | JohnRebus (11), Athens, Greece | | February 16, 2012 Rock pub with a large room and a big bar. Booze atmosphere and a nice place to meet locals, though noisy. Some impressive and elaborate wooden taps decorates the bar. A cool selection of 16 original farmhouse Lithuanian ales on tap. Beers from Belgium, UK, Russia, Czech and Germany complete the list of bottles. The prices are from heaven. I paid 1,5€ for a pint of a local beer and 5,9€ for a big bottle of La Trappe Quadruppel (June 2011). The must in Vilnius. | | TBone (173), Pori, Finland | | May 23, 2011 This student bar has very good selection of Lithuanian farmhouse beers on tap. Few are same than in Snekutis, Alus Namai has a few more taps than it. Big selection (for Lithuania) of international beers on bottles too. Food seems to be cheap and ok. Big screens showed basket ball. Bigger place and different ambiance than in Snekutis, but I liked this place too. One "must visit" places for rater in Vilnius. | | larsga (136), Oslo, Norway | | September 16, 2010 Really a student bar, but still kind of nice, and while it gets crowded and noisy it’s still possible relax and rate beers in there. They often have concerts on Friday/Saturday. The menu has lots of import beers, but the real interest is the Lithuanian farmhouse ales they serve draft. There’s also some bottled Lithuanian beer. Overall highly recommended. | Vitalija (1), , Lithuania does not count - explanation | | March 17, 2010 The best place to drink real lithuanian beer, having fun, listen to wild music, being with friends and just having wonderful time in Vilnius. i feel welcome at any time in Alaus namai. | | faroeviking (127), , Haiti | | January 19, 2010 Now this is really a beer heaven place! Great service from the friendly staff though English was not really possible for them to understand much of, great food and not least great beers. I met one of the owners of the place. After some good beer drinking hours we went to Snekutis. Tasty food, I had the smoked trout and some tasty beer snacks. The breadsticks are exellent snacks with the beers. | | FatPhil (222), Tallinn, Estonia | | April 15, 2009 [ Updated April 20, 2009 ] Either "The Home of Beers", or simply "Beer House", this large restaurant bar at the north side of town has a quiet location next to the river. It is walking distance from the centre. Some very unusual Lithuanian beers here - the kinds previously only found in šnekutis - and a fairly comprehensive beer menu (in Lithuanian). Magic words to look out for are kaimiškas=farmhouse, tamsus(is)=dark, nefiltruotas=unfiltered. Pucca pub grub nosh at good prices. Definite new (opened Feb 13 2009) must-visit venue in Vilnius. Very friendly staff, but not many speak English. Big screen for important sports events, and a small corner stage for rock music a couple of times a week. |
