mrmarrow (5), Toruń, Poland does not count - explanation | | August 28, 2011 Schropfy, You should try to reach Toruń or Gdańsk to see a broad Czech menu ;)
Baszta is "armed" quite nice although the choice is narrow in comparison to pubs outside Warsaw (wchich I find strange). | | Schroppfy (13), Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio | | May 13, 2011 [ Updated June 3, 2011 ] Great place, a must visit. Beer was more expensive than elsewhere, but with a selection of Czech beers I have seen nowhere else in Poland. Tiny hole in the wall with two rooms connected by a hallway (the hall is the bar serving area). Smoking is, unfortunately, allowed. 2-3 taps, all quite rare. 5-7 out of the 50 bottles I have not seen in any store here in Poland before. An absolute must-return-to place. Gazza’s directions are spot on. "Like" them on Facebook to get relatively recent beer and opening hours updates - this is important! | | Gazza (153), Worcester, England | | March 30, 2011 [ Updated April 25, 2011 ] The "Czech Tower" is a bar somehow built into a huge suspension bridge (the Most Poniatowskiego) with a good range of Czech microbrews on tap (three varying, generally rare stuff) and lots more in bottle including Kocour.
Right... now the fun part!!!
To find this place, take a tram to Most Poniatowskiego. Look back towards the centre of the city and you’ll see, on the right-hand side of the bridge, two stone shed-like buildings. The second one has steps which, if you descend, you’ll find the bar’s door just around the corner.. the only issue is there is no official crossing on the road so you’re supposed to go down the steps into the bowels of the bridge to get back up onto the pavement!
Or... from ulica Solec, stand under the bridge and look towards the city centre. Take the huge flight of stairs in front of you and, at the first landing, take the steps up to your right and the door is on your right...
Not easy to find but an absolutey essential visit! The guys running this place are very enthusiastic and the beer range is extensive. The only real issue is that the beers aren’t Polish... but it’s such a good bar you can forgive them that. |
