| craftycarl21 (59), Washington, Washington DC | | January 23, 2012 Right off the north end of the Dupont metro, and right next to Connecticut Ave. Wine and Liquor. 15 or so taps, with things like Founder’s Backwoods Bastard (which had just kicked when I got there; blast!) Really cool ambiance, with a local bookstore combined with a restaurant, coffeeshop, and bar. A fun place to spend an hour or two. | | JCB (120), Durham, North Carolina | | October 27, 2011 Been going to Kramer’s more or less my whole life, and I’ve always had a fondness for the back spot as a brunch destination. But the sidecar bar is a winner as well, and it’s nice to pore over your purchase if you can find a spot in the small narrow bar. Tap selection isn’t hugely plentiful but there’s always solid to excellent stuff available, including great stuff from Brooklyn, Bells, and more. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | August 18, 2011 Interesting place. It’s a bookstore and a bar. It’s a bar and a restaurant. It’s a hangout. OK, I’m not sure what it is. But I do know they had a dozen or so taps, and the 3 Stars brewers were there to promote their brand new beers, including a new collaboration with Olivers. because of this, the place was packed, and had a really good vibe. Beer geeks plus book geeks, what a combo! Worth trying. | | Lubiere (349), Ottawa, Ontario | | March 16, 2010 A funky bookstore with this nice little bar and decent sized restaurant in the back. Food seems bistro meets BBQ joint, decent prizs, about 15 taps of decent beers, good service....opened 24 hours a day. | | MikeF (205), Cleveland, Ohio | | October 16, 2009 Where else can you find such good beer in a bookstore? A good selection, not mind blowing, but respectable. Reasonable prices for the area. Staff are knowledgeable. | | kwoeltje (71), Manchester, Missouri | | September 11, 2008 friendly waitstaff with good beer knowledge. Interesting menu. Not a huge selection of beers, but all good and across a variety of styles. Lovely setting in the back of the bookstore. | | KUEric (106), Washington, Washington DC | | February 23, 2008 Love just about everything about this place. Great bokstore on Dupont Cirle (great locaion), suprisingly good quality food, good service. But the crowd can be a little too intellect-types who look down their noses at people.
But the place had a not too large selection of good quality beers.
Wish they had wi-fi though.
| | Cobra (23), In a van, down by the river, Maryland | | December 20, 2007 Part of Kramer’s Book Store. Geared more toward the wine snobs than the beer geeks. Had some Dogfish Head & Bells on tap when I was there. Lots of pseudo snobs there. Bathrooms are up in the attic, which sucks. | | Stine (70), St. Paul , Minnesota | | September 19, 2007 The menu is definitely wine-focused, but the beer list is high quality. Taps are east coast micros and a couple belgian choices. Nice. My Two Hearted tap was pretty close to perfectly fresh. Bottles were all 750’s and bombers. Things like Yeti, Van de Kaizer, and Hennepin. My meal was slightly overpriced, extravagently prepared and presented, but not really that great. Good, though. My server was extremely overstretched, but he was a bit spacey. A good destination if you want a good beer in this neighborhood. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | May 23, 2007 [ Updated May 24, 2007 ] Nice outdoor seating area, but the tables are a little cramped. Decent beer selection, I just drank some Two Hearted, didn’t order any food... wasn’t really here for the beer but rather to just sit on the sidewalk and drink at least a decent beer, and you can’t do that anywhere else really in Dupont Circle. Skip it if you’re visiting for a day or two, but maybe stop in for some good appetizers with some decent beer. The menu looked a lot better than brewery and bar food. I want to come back and eat some pie. |
