58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 12/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | February 9, 2012 I have to state up front that Bierkrug entered this one, and this shows the weakness of entering places solely based on their internet profiles, rather than a personal visit. This place has never had Zambezi, Red Stripe, Castle, Club, Guinness, Siear Nevada, or any other West African beers except a handful from Ghana. Those are Gulder, Club, Star, Castel Milk Stout, and Tusker from Kenya. That said, manager Anthony Opare has built a solid restaurant with genuine Ghanian food ranging from Jollof rice (obviously) to banku and fiufu. By far the best West African food in the district, and that alone is worth a visit. And the digs are classier than its former Adams Morgan location. |
