| tastybeer (20), Washington DC | | March 19, 2012 A large bar (with both an upstairs deck and restaurant downstairs) located on the corner of the popular U st. corridor and 18th St. (Adams Morgan). Huge whiskey selection with a respectable draft list (each bar has its own draft list). Not much in the way of bottles. Prices are on the higher side for draft beer, but not absurd. That being said, you can find several hard to find bottles of Scotch that run for $20 or 30 a pour. Bartenders will make pretty much any cocktail you can come up with. I have not tried to the food but the menu looks promising. The bouncers do a good job of keeping the place from getting too crowded on weekends. Highly recommended, especially for drinking on the patio in good weather. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | February 22, 2012 A superb and world-class whiskey drinking establishment that may have the largest selection of open scotch in the country. One and two ounce pours of nearly anything you could ask for. Draft beers were quality. A fat man with a shoulderbag bumped into me when I arrived. He looked like a Harry Potter character. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | December 29, 2011 This place reminds me of being in the library of a very classy mansion - except instead of books, you are surrounded on all sides by whiskies. They even have a series of library ladders to reach the gems. I foolishly started with a beer, realized my mistake, and switched to Pappy van Winkle followed by Ardberg Alligator. When the server asked me how my beer was and I said "OK," she immediately comped it and offered me another on her, saying, "It shouldn’t be ’OK,’ it should be spectacular!" Now that’s a world view that I can live with. Overall, a great place to come for a single malt, with undoubtedly the best selection in the district, and perhaps in the USA. | | dbarnold (11), Bethesda, Maryland | | July 29, 2011 This is a cool place, probably the largest selection of hard alcohol in DC. Scotch particularly. Beer selection is very good as well, 20 or so craft choices and some things I’ve never seen anywhere else. Prices are reasonable, and bar tenders can make anything, and will even if it’s a pain in the ass. | | gsmitty80 (153), Washington DC | | July 9, 2011 New bar on 18th street that has not had its grand opening yet. More of a scotch and whiskey bar than a beer bar, the beers they have are quality and craft. Check out their twitter feed to see what they have on tap. I will be adding some distribution info as well. The food was also very good, we had a bunch of different things brought out to us for the event i was attending. Keep your eye on this place because it is gonna blow up. |
