82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 bytemesis (224) Sunnyvale, California | March 13, 2013 I enjoyed this place. Certainly doesnt have the taplist of Churchkey, but what they have is carefully selected and high quality. Taster prices for everything right on the menu, which is nice. They also run a nightly food special that is unbeatable in price ($5 for three tacos and a side when I was there). Typical bar ambiance, but good service and a good time. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 jcos (55) Maryland | August 9, 2012 Pretty solid beer stop in Adam’s Morgan with pretty solid food. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 lushawn (230) Massachusetts | July 21, 2012 relaxed vibe. lotta wood. NES in basement, as well as some other games. tight beer selection- bunch of quality beers i hadn’t had before. I like the "guess the mystery beer" game. the bartender pours a sample of some beer off the menu. guess the beer, get a free draft of it. neat idea. every beer on the menu available in 4 oz taster size. nice place. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 Drink4Satan (29) Washington, Washington DC | March 16, 2012 This is my new go-to in the District. Consistently excellent draft list that makes it tough to choose. They usually have at least 1 sour draft and and a good mix of hoppy offerings and fruity/malty/spicy offerings. It’s a chill, dim-lit wooden bar with a helpful, knowledgeable bar-staff. The food is more than a few steps beyond your average pub grub. The vegetarian options are creative, savory and not at all a slap in the face like many other sorry excuses for a vegetarian menu. If you’re looking for a party bar, this is not the spot. It’s quite, almost dead on weekend nights. As an after work spot, I enjoy few places as much as this. Top-notch. Oh yea, and there’s Ski-ball downstairs, which they call "Asylum." Quality over quantity. I’d go here over the adjacent Black Squirrel any day. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 tastybeer (28) Bloomington, Indiana | February 29, 2012 New restaurant/bar in Adams Morgan. Ambiance is a rustic looking saloon, and the place is usually pretty quiet. Service is good - wait staff is friendly and bartenders will keep your glasses full. The draft list is usually quite good, with a nice variety of DC staples and occasionally grey market stuff (keg of HF Edward came through recently). Bottle list is actually a can list, so they are somewhat limited there. Nice bourbon selection as well. Food is good - barbecue ranges from average to very good depending on dish, and sides are respectable. Prices are among the best in DC, especially considering quality. I would definitely recommend. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 craftycarl21 (71) Washington, Washington DC | January 23, 2012 Really excellent little spot at the north end of the Adams Morgan bar strip. Superb tap list, including the latest DC Brau stuff, the all-new and interesting Oxbow brewery out of Maine, Hel and Verdoemenis, etc. Very cool, smaller place with tons of woodwork and a gorgeous bar. Good, helpful staff behind the bar. One of the better places in the District. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 GT2 (375) Jurupa Valley, California | December 21, 2011 Nice addition to the DC beer scene. Good layout inside- cozy and smaller. Lots of woodwork. Bar is long and easily accessible. Tap list is really one of the best I’ve seen in a long time: 1809 Berliner Weisse, De la Senne Taras Boulba, FW Double Jack, Aecht Schlenkerla Marzen, and local stuff like DC Brau NATAS and Lost Rhino. Nice little mix. Well thought out- and it shows. Everything is available for tasters- 4oz pours are very generous (probably more like 6oz) and are $2-4 each. Very good deal. We had a blast here and will certainly be back. Nice to have another backup plan when friends want to go out on "the strip" that is the Bourbon Street of DC. An upgrade from Black Squirrel it certainly is. Would like to come back for the food- espresso dry rubbed brisket, chipotle sweet potatoes- Mmmmm sounds good. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | December 21, 2011| Updated June 23, 2012 The list is the thing. One of the best tap lists in the city, with a smattering of local and regional stuff, Americans, Belgians, and one or two German beers - including a berliner weisse. Plus stuff that no other bar has. Food is very creative and tasty. Top notch bourbon list as well. Friendly and helpful staff. And, best of all for DC - reasonable prices by local standards, with all tasters $3 or less.Great addition to a neighborhood that is otherwise mostly dominated by college bars. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 TheChampion (1) Virginia | December 11, 2011| Updated June 23, 2012 Top notch BBQ, probably the best in the DC area. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice assortment of cans, had 20 different brews on tap. Taps all pair well with the food, lots of sours, fruit, Belgians, porters and stout. Would like to have seen more American beers on tap but it was a nice list. | 70 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 gsmitty80 (169) Washington DC | December 7, 2011| Updated June 23, 2012 Located above Asylum in Adams Morgan the place has a nice and dark wood theme to it. The beer list was nice but it was extensively fruit beers and sour ales, albeit rare and interesting ones. I understand that these beers pair well with both barbecue and bourbon but it was hard to find anything non sour that was new to me. Nice place though and I will go back to try the BBQ.
Also Tap # may be off. I couldn’t find any information about how many. |
