Located a short walk from the DPC metro near Logan Circle. Plenty of good restaurants around if you need an excuse to be in the neighborhood. Pretty standard Whole Foods layout and decor, and always crowded as hell. The beer selection is surprisingly small, but well thought out. The focus seems to be on local brewers, but there are plenty of Belgians, JP, weird ciders, and some other out of market stuff you won’t see elsewhere. Receives just about all of the special release beers that are distributed to DC. The aisle clerks are helpful but not super knowledgeable. Prices are fair. A good though not very accessible spot.

Stopped in here and picked up a Hitachino Weizen that we don’t get in NC for some reason. Need to fix that because that might be the best hefeweizen I have ever had. Anyway, this is your typical very busy WFM. geared toward singles and couples, it has lots of smaller checkout counters allowing for constant flow of customers checking out. Nice selection, a few locals.

Haven’t been to this branch very often, but it’s a whopper. Back in the day, the arcana of city law meant that you had to buy bombers by the pair. Strange, but that never bothered me much because the selection here is quite good for a WF. Tons of Belgians along with a far better range of US craft than many of the liquor stores in the Dupont area.

Visited a couple of times in the middle of October 2011. Very nice Supermarket, I wish we had similar Supermarkets in Sweden. (one can dream) Large selection with ridiculously low prices, at least for a guy from Sweden. A six-pack of Bells Expedition Stout did cost 17.99 USD. I have seen that beer in Sweden once, one bottle did cost more than a six-pack at this Supermarket. One drawback was that you had to buy the whole six-pack, not individual bottles. Well, I had to content myself with a number of large bottles.

Great for a grocery store but this is what they specialize in. Stock moves a little slowly with old Seasonals on the shelves still. Great bells selection, more American brew focused

Decided to stop in here on my mile and a half walk back from Churchkey to the place I was staying. I couldn’t buy 95 percent of what I wanted since I didn’t have a car. Great selection, after careful deliberation I chose to buy New Holland Farmhouse Hatter.

One of my favorite places to hit up in the city since it’s so close to Churchkey. It’s always easy to swing by and get a bottle or two on the way to or from the bar. Atmosphere isn’t much to speak of. There’s an aisle to the left when you walk into the store. Sometimes there’ll be a few cases of things further into the deli section, like when they got New Belgium in. Service is good in terms of them answering whether they have things in, etc, though I’ve never really asked more-detailed questions than that. Selection is a good sampling of pretty much all the breweries -- at least in terms of six-packs -- that are distributed here. Plenty of larger-format bottles as well. One irritating thing is that they’re the only place to tape together two individual small bottles, e.g. Rochefort and Orval. I think this has to do with some D.C. regulation on size of to-go sales, but no one else seems to observe it. Overall, a good spot in a nice location, though nothing mind-blowing. Worth a stop if you’re looking for bottles and are heading to Churchkey anyhow.

One of the best Whole Foods I’ve seen for beer but in no way shape or form is even close to the Bowery Place Whole Foods in NYC. They have remodeled the entire store so now beer is not in three different places. The selection of single bottles is quite extensive and is your best bet to pick up DuClaw and Stillwater bombers. Sometimes they have some odd Italian beers. Staff here is pretty smart and helpful. They have an actual beer buyer who gets in special release beers, but they never put these on the shelf and you have to know someone to get an "in" on this special release beers. KBS, Vanilla BCS, etc all came to this store but never were put officially on sale. So, their practices are pretty lame. Best bet is to make a relationship with one of the staff and just know through the grapevine when a special release beer is possibly in stock and then pretty please them. Definitely worth stopping in after an afternoon spent at Churchkey around the corner. Food is actually pretty good if you are getting buffet but best bet is to go in the afternoon when random people sell grilled hotdogs and hamburgers out front for $5. Beware, around 6PM on weekdays this place is a fucking madhouse with half of DC’s elite shopping for overpriced groceries.

This store was packed with shoppers. The beer selection was pretty good with one large cooler and one long shelf. Most of the beer was stuff available in my region but some NE stuff like Duclaw and some MD beers were available. There wasn’t anything super rare or necessarily must-buy but the selection was extensive enough to make for a pleasant beer shopping experience. I was surprised that the prices were reasonable. It seems most everything in DC costs more than back home in the southeast but the beer at Whole Foods wasn’t too bad.

This is one of the busiest WFM locations, and certainly the busiest in several states. Nice store... my food from the hot bar was good. The employees were disinterested. Competitive prices on beer, and a nice selection, with some less common stuff.
