Visited midday on a Tuesday. Easy to find, relatively close to I-35. Typical HyVee layout with Wine and Spirits separate from the main grocery, though accessible through a side door or its own front door. Selection is decent, had a good amount of Exile and Confluence beers. The mix a six is also available as singles, though the selection here was just ok. Solid Surly selection, which I didnít know was in Iowa now. Overall normal HyVee.
64 = ★★ (Just ok)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.

Itís a grocery store, what can one really add there? High ceilings, long aisles, track lighting, you get the gist. The beer selection lives in the Wine & Spirits tacked on to the side of the grocery store proper, for those who are more in the mood to pick up beer by itself rather than as part of a dietary supply run.
Selection is good, though not outstanding, with a decent lineup of single bottles in the mix-a-six section and a couple grocery-store-length aisles of craft beer. Much of whatís in stock is kept in a cooler, though all of it is under fluorescent lighting. I didnít see anything particularly spectacular, though there was a solid representation of local, regional, and Iowa-distributed beers. Not much in the way of imports, as in I donít recall seeing any, so look elsewhere for any of your Belgian, German, or UK beer needs.

Decent selection but the prices were a little high. Workers were not the most knowledgable.

I stop by this place at least weekly as I work right by it, and you can get plenty of good beer here. Priding itís self as the "best selection in town" is saying basically nothing for West Des Moines, except they do try to rotate a lot of good beer and they keep expanding. Lots of times special release stuff goes here before other places in the metro so itís worth a frequent visit. Itís got a great single bottle selection as well.

I think I may be done shopping at the University Hy Vee. This store had easily the best beer selection of any store I have visited in DM. There was a very large singles selection area and all those bottles are in the cooler. I like that and most places donít do that with their mix a six. There were Rogue bombers I have not seen anywhere else as well as all the relevant Boulevard 750ís. This was well lad out with a diverse selection. I will frequent this Hy Vee when I am looking for good beer in DM.
