| DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | April 20, 2011 Located in a nice block of West Hartford, I wasn’t expecting this place to be such a dive bar dump. They claim to be a beer bar but they had 20+ taps that were mostly crap and a random selection of bottles that lacked seasonals or quality. The bartenders also don’t seem to know much about beer since they served me an Urthel saisonaire when i asked for a hop it. Even when I pointed this out to them it didn’t seem to register. In fairness they seem to have a decent whiskey selection but if beer’s your thing, you’re much better off at plan b. | Sara21 (1), does not count - explanation | | August 19, 2010 There is no better beer selection than this! Plenty of rotating lines, some very unusual hard to find bottles. Just had Alpha Dog IPA from Idaho on draft- AWESOME! The food is excellent as well. The best wings and nachos around. You won’t have any problem with their serving size either- go hungry & thirsty and you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend. | | beerfest5 (58), Simsbury, Connecticut | | May 2, 2010 Just opened Irish Pub in West Hartford center. Great for sitting out on the patio enjoying one of their twenty draught choices, or more than 100 different bottles. Good pub grub inside, had the nachos to start and the burger, both were phenominal. Tap list is usually 6 irish beers of the usual sort except Killkenny that ive never seen in the states, so thats a good one, some usual macros, but they do reserve 6 taps that they rotate with new micros every few weeks. inside is a good, spacious bar with plenty of seats and tons of tv’s. The bottle list is pretty extensive, however filled with a lot of usual choices, so even though there are 100 or more bottle choices, maybe 20 of which are really the interesting ones. I saw some corsendonk, chimay, stone, etc. on there, unfortunately i went with one labeled, "Ireland" under country of origin, had never heard of it, "Leg Biter", and found out after I got it that it was from Rochester, so too bad. Good place that W.Hartford sorely needed. Highly reccommend it. |
