| jolo (32), Cape Town, South Africa | | October 10, 2011 A great location at the Waterfront. A beautiful and rustic place. Nice service, Ok food and a ok selection of beer. The original owners are back since a couple of years. They improve their business over time | | TheRealMGD (54), Lakewood, Washington | | July 24, 2011 Very touristy location, but a great pub overall - my favorite in CT. Great atmosphere, great service and decent selection. Don’t count on having an erudite craft brew chat with staff, but they are attentive and good value. The house beers are serviceable and certainly better than any of the junk lagers you’ll find nearly everywhere. | | eku28 (17), San Diego, California | | March 31, 2011 Mitchell’s is located at the V&A Waterfront, the main tourist location in CT. It has a nice pub/bar atmosphere inside with a small patio outside. The selection of beers was not that great, and I didn’t try any of the food. It’s one of the better places in CT, but that’s not saying alot. It’s worth a stop if you’re in the V&A area. | | Nalu (19), Washington | | September 16, 2010 In CT for an OB rugby tournament, I tried all week to get to Mitchell’s. Finally arrived on Saturday mid-day with some of my mates and had the craft brew sampler and a pint of the Scottish Ale. Lovely atmosphere, good and fairly knowledgeable staff, food not sampled. Prices were good, although the swag was dear and sized for small tourists. You’ll need to go up 1-2 sizes, be forewarned. Not a world-class pub by any means, but my favorite of the half-dozen I experienced in the Cape. | | kosherbeer (28), gudvangen, Norway | | April 25, 2010 visited on 2 occasions in 2008 and 2009, great location ,good beer english football upstairs on the big screen ,,unfortunately its the chelsea supporters club of sa,, not the place to watch spurs lose 2.0!!! | | SlothFroth (13), Katy, Texas | | May 30, 2009 Visited early April 2009.
Nice layout. The brew equipment has apparently been removed and beer is no longer brewed on site.
Beers were good if not on the lighter side.
The Scottish Ale was very good. Nice malt character with low hop profile and very pleasant alcohol strength.
In all, the beers were very clean and well priced. | | 502Flavors (47), ARLINGTON, Virginia | | April 29, 2009 Been living in the Western Cape for 3 months now and staying for 2 more. I hit up Mitchell’s every other Tuesday to drink and watch some hillarious Karaoke. The ambieance is ok, its designed to be a traditional Scottish Ale house. The crowd is either silly karaoke people or soccer fans - all pretty significantly drunk. Not really a beer geek place. Service is fine, selection is weak, food is pretty standard quality bar food, but they have a nice number of options on the menu. The value is average - beers are 18.50 Rand, just shy of 2 US dollars. This is good value for the US, but not great value for here. Overall: if you are in Cape Town you should visit Mitchell’s, mostly because there aren;t any other real beer spots. | | garthicus (45), Toronto, Ontario | | February 27, 2007 Been here a couple of times, start at the first tap and make your way down, the staff are friendly and keep you topped up food is good and when the weather is good you can sit outside, my favorite pub in SA | | austinpowers (152), New York, New York | | July 18, 2006 Located at the V&A Waterfront, this bar boasts a lively scene with raucous college aged S. African undergrads getting sauced. Interesting vibe, to be sure. Solid microbrews. Lovely country, except for, oh, that whole apartheid thing. Oh, and the racial hatred. And the total lack of safety after 7pm. And the carjacking. But it’s a lovely country all the same. | | SudsMcDuff (112), .....Manchester United.........., Texas | | February 20, 2006 I went here whenever i could....the beer is always solid....very nice bartenders.....charming and quaint yet still fun and delicous. |
