| Onenote81 (72), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | April 20, 2012 I’ve been here a few times, but never gave it a review. Alot of the times the service is hit or miss, but today’s stop was stellar. I sat at the "bar" and the guy working there was quick and helpful. Got the steak and cheese calzone. Excellent. I’ve always been pleased with the food whenever I’ve stopped at one of these places.
This specific ’Shroom has 32 beers on tap. Nice! I saw some from Rogue, Avery, DFH, Starr Hill, SN, Bell’s, Foothills, Natty Greene’s, etc. It looked as if the brews came out in frosted glasses. Seriously?! With a stellar lineup like they had, I’m surprised they stooped so low. Ah well. Still a great place to stop for a great beer. Recommend. | | doboy (19), Morehead City, North Carolina | | March 15, 2012 Beer was good, food was good, sdervice was a little slow. | | ttutony (15), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | February 20, 2011 Fairly good selection of beers here. Unfortunately did not get to try the food. | poleywog (3), Winston Salem, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | May 7, 2010 Good pizza, very dependible the same each visit. Lots of different beers availible, I try to stick with a micro brew on tap. | | biznizness (25), Mooresville, North Carolina | | December 22, 2009 Used to be a lunch spot during school... awesome pizza and a nice selection of beers. Service was always good and friendly here, and the bar is a pretty nice place to hang out. Not the best Mellow I’ve been to but definitely not the worst. | Beambrew (2), , North Carolina does not count - explanation | | August 17, 2009 Nice beer selection with a cool laid back ambiance however the lunch service was overwelmed by the number of customers and the food did not live up to the promise. How much iceberg lettuce can you use? | | adavis234 (11), Columbia, South Carolina | | January 22, 2009 This restaurant/bar has the largest selection of beers on tap in the city. This variety makes Mellow Mushroom an extremely good place to start the night with a few pitchers and some delicious food. Plenty of seating and good service make this a good, if somewhat forgettable place. | | Butters (164), Richmond, Virginia | | August 7, 2008 Very cool place with a good selection of drafts. I was very surprised to find such a selection of good beers, both regional and national, in such a hip little restaurant. I really loved their pricing structure: $3.50 a pint, for beers under 7% abv. $5 per pint for beers over 7%. Very attractive prices. The pizza was different than what I’m use to, but completely enjoyable as well. The decor was nice and the service was pleasant. I certainly recommend hitting this place up before making your way down the street to Foothills. | | Veeve (22), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | December 18, 2006 so I’ve been frequenting mellow mushroom for some time now. its a good place to go after work during the summer and its a good place to start your evening on a weekend. its not the liveliest place in the world nor is it my scene but its definetely a place to get a good beer on tap. of the 30+ beers there is a favorite brewer or style for everybody to enjoy. though at first they weren’t circulating new beers in often enough or at all really, now it seems every couple of weeks a few beers have gone and you are still wanting more of them b/c they were sooo good and a few new beers have popped up to try. right now they have unibroue maudite on tap. I’m newly obsessed with the unibroue brewers after meeting them at a NYC festival. they also have brooklyn monster ale which is awesome. along with flying dog, magic hat, chimel, old dominion, avery, foothills, natty green’s and many other good brewers. it does have a hippie feel - the decor includes psychodelic mushrooms painted on the walls above bar and the bathrooms which are splash painted. the outdoor sidewalk seating is great for dining on a beautiful night. the service is SO SLOW. I can’t stress that enough. so come knowing you are going to relax and have incredible pizza and good beers and it’ll be worth the wait. you may be tempted by a calzone, but trust genny - just pizza and beer will do the trick. | | NachlamSie (358), Tennessee | | September 16, 2006 Well, it’s got the typical Mellow Mushroom feel. This location, like most in downtown areas, can get very, very crowded and loud. The beer selection is thorough and the hustling waitress in the bar area took good care of us, the business considered. I finally at a Shroom again here, dining on a very tasty and reasonably priced toasted BLT club. This is a definite stop on a downtown trip to W-S. |
