| EdKing (69), London, England | | December 31, 2011 Baird Brewery bar on three levels. Good news is that as well as stocking the full list of Baird beers and seasonals it’s also got a great eclectic range of guest beers. Seating here is extensive and it’s as big a place as you’ll find in spatially challenged Japan. Service is attentive and beer quality was very good. Had a bottle of the Kurofune Porter, but the highlights were the draft Angry Boy Brown Ale and an Italian guest beer, Birra Del Borgo Duchessa. I also believe Baird have a point card system so if you’re in Japan for a while, it’s definitely worth getting one. | | SweetHorizon (10), , New Zealand | | November 28, 2011 You walk into this bar and smell meat, I love this place already. Had good US imports, always nice to mix it up a little. The food was amazing, I had to come back for a second night to try more. Staff spoke English and the manager is from the US. Chuck has a great range of hot sauces that go well with his BBQ. Sadly they had run out of the two exclusive beers, but still had a great time drinking and eating. | | jonno (92), , Japan | | September 29, 2011 Great little place. I prefer this to Harajuku A) cos Chuck is a great guy who makes some great somked food B) it has three levels of nooks and crannys and C) there are some guest taps beside Baird brews. Baird are generally good to very good, but having Sculpin, Hop Rod Rye and Little Sumpin wild on tap seems pretty righteous to me. Great location in Yokohama, but watch the stairs - They are super steep, especially after a few pints! | | chuwy (19), , Japan | | July 24, 2011 The newest of the Baird Beer Taproom family. Opened in mid January. This one is in possibly the most interesting craft beer city in Asia - Yokohama. Great bar, focusing onn the entire Baird Beer range on tap (2 handpumps featuring real ale) and in bottles plus 3 American guest beers rotating constantly. no other choices for Japanese craft but the Baird range is extensive and a perfect place to sample them all in one location. Beer lines are cleaned regularly including chemical cleaning once or twice a month. Food focus is on authentic American BBQ, using the 2ton red monster BBQ set up imported from Texas and slow smoking the meat over Japanese cherry blossom wood. Food is predominately meat but vegetarian options exist. The small pizzas are also very good. Great food, great beer. 3 floors including a roof top open air terrace (smoking) and a VIP sofa area plus tatami room for private fuictions. Smoking is in the terrace plus on the ground floor, outsdie the bar. Long cruved bar seats about 11. 2nd floor all tables and window seating plus 2 dartboards. Features live music once every few months. I Disclaimer: work here Fri and Sat but am being honest in my ratings. I work strictly part time as way to get involved wiht this awesome pub (plus I get a decent discount on the eber and food!). Staff are professional and the manager is a native English speaker (US). Recommended on any visit to Tokyo or Yokohama.
p.s. the groudn floor is no longer smoky. That was during the opening weeks when Chuck (pitmaster) was getting use to the huge smoker machine.
We have capability for 27 taps but only utilize about 24 at the moment. 2 beers only available at Bashamichi are the Bashamichi ale (smoked brown real ale on handpump) and the Port City Pils, a bohemian styeld pils on CO2. | | Stew41 (112), Woodend, Australia | | June 20, 2011 Have to agree with the other sentiments. Classy and coozy with a genuine locals feel. Friendly service and English spoken. About 16 taps with 2 guests (greenflash & Oaked Arrogant on this occasion). They do takeaways as well. Food is great with a heavy focus on American BBQ meats - really tasty. The sort of place you’d bring your family to such is the positive vibe. | | KyotoLefty (286), Kyoto, Japan | | January 23, 2011 Agree with TimE. Best selection from any Baird Taproom yet. Best food as well by far. Chuck’s BBQ rocks. Lovely place with terrace, tatami room, darts, bar...Just great. | | TimE (189), Tokyo, Japan | | January 16, 2011 Awesome place. The biggest beer bar in Tokyo/Yokohama area. Three floors. 1st floor is the bar area and seems mainly for standing. The smokery is on the first floor, so it smells a bit. The second floor has lots of seating and the third floor has a patio and a private room. The place was once an apartment and the private room on the third floor still feels like an apartment with a shower, tub, washing machine. The food is kick ass. Chuck, the manager, smokes awesome meat - Everything is good, but the Fat Boy is amazing with the BBQ sauce. The house ale is a smoked beer that goes awesome with the food. Prices are reasonable for Tokyo/Yokohama. 27 tap capacity. They don’t have any guest taps on right now, but will do in the future. I loved this place and think is a must visit to the Tokyo/Yokohama area. The place is just down the street from the Yokohama brewery. It is a bit tricky to find, but not too bad. |
