| Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | April 17, 2012 (Visited in 11/2011): This Drinks of the World location is in the Zürich Hauptbahnhof (Central train station).
The interior is small, borderline cramped but well-organized with beers located on shelves and in coolers.
Pleasantly surprising selection of regional beers from Belgium and Switzerland. Also a decent amount of singles, as well as a few gift sets. A few examples include Turbinen, Sternen, Tschlin and many others. Some "imports" from the USA as well, but mostly larger microbreweries like Flying Dog. They even had Duff.
Service was friendly and no issues given the language barrier.
Overall we started off our vacation with quite a haul to take home. Worth a stop for any beer lover visiting Zürich | | magdalar (13), Zurich, Switzerland | | March 20, 2012 Stock rotates regularly. Mostly mainstream beers, but some nice finds here as well. Slightly pricy for quantity. Probably the best brick&mortar for beer in Zurich. | | Bov (57), Bienne, Switzerland | | March 20, 2012 More than 350 beers from 50 countries. Mainly mainstream but with some good surprises from time to time. | | Balazs (35), Budapest, Hungary | | November 7, 2011 A small shop hidden on the lower level of the central station. Good selection of beers from all over the world, but you won’t find many rarities here. The store targets the Friday and Saturday night youth who pretty much takes over the train station in the evening. Friendly service, prices are high, but that’s normal in Switzerland. I picked up three Swiss beers, it’s an OK place to visit. | | bjakk (22), Skagafjordur, Iceland | | August 30, 2010 When I was in Switzerland I tried to go there once a week or so, to buy some great beers. Selection really good.
Necessary place in Switzerland, where it is not always easy to find good beer to my taste. | | tkrjukoff (133), , Sweden | | May 4, 2010 I have visited Zurich twice. Both times I have mailed to the "Drinks of The World". Stefan Mueller has been most helpful to help me get beers I am interested in buying. This second time he even fixed brands they did not carry from their store in Bern. I will definately recommend this store to everybody beer inerested visiting Zurich. | | nate2g (320), Marlborough, New Zealand | | March 29, 2010 Same as the other DOTW stores and just as busy. They do have a few BFMs but everything else is common. | | fiulijn (273), Como, Italy | | January 27, 2008 Big numbers but not so interesting. People stop here to buy booze. They have Christoffel Blond that I bought for my sister and boyfriend, a few classic good Belgians, German lagers and hefeweizen, a lot of beers from exotic countries too (check their website for a list) and a bunch of Swiss (I remember Locher for example, nothing special anyway). Stop if you are thirsty or if you want to carry home some new beer (I suppose that if you are not Bov or Fiulijn you will find some new Swiss beer here). | | OSLO (119), Ames, Iowa | | August 16, 2007 Of all the places I stopped in Zurich to look for beer, this small store was by far the best. The staff seems overworked for the amount of people that were streaming in and out of the place, and as a result the only time you can talk with anyone is when you are paying. Selection of singles was far better than I had expected, with the beers being sorted according to what country they are from. When I was there they also gave you a free beer (which they also produce) for buying a mixed 6 pack. | | austinpowers (152), New York, New York | | June 3, 2007 Located in the center of tiny Zurich inside the main railway station (Hauptbahnhoff) on the lower level of the station’s shopping mall. The selection was pretty impressive and seemed to be far better than any other beer selection I found in Zurich. Perhaps 300-400 beers? Mostly stocks common brews from around Europe (mostly) - Bishops Fingers, Sam Adams, San Miguel, and Berliner Kindl Weisse. There were probably 50 Swiss beers, few of which I’d seen before. |
