If you’re on Mill, then this s a decent place to have a beer at lunch, but I wouldn’t recommend getting grounded here if you’re going out for a night on the town. Limited selection and very commercial setting. Better for food than beer.

Typical GB, kind of upscale, not really a comfortable place. Only 4-5 beers on tap. Not a place I am rushing to get back to.

A commanding view of Mill, but little else. If you’re on this street, just go to Rula Bula and keep quiet.

Contemporary/trendy atmosphere with excellent service every time. Food is always top notch.
Almost exclusively German style beers served here. All are above average, with their Hefe-Weizen topping my list as well as the MaiBock in the Spring.

A wide open floorplan and low lighting makes the whole space feel cozy despite the high ceilings to make space for the brewery equipment. The beer selection is limited (only 4 styles) but the hefeweizen and marzen were enjoyable if somewhat homogenized. I didn’t see much of the food menu, but the garlic fries were very tasty. As noted by another reviewer, if you’re in Tempe, you should be on Mill St, and if you’re on Mill St. you should be in Gordon Biersch.

Located on the second and third floors of a modern-ish building in the center of Tempe near ASU. Nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. They had 6 of their own beers on tap, all of which were decent. I also had a very good lunch and the service was excellent.

Big and noisy place - if you like that sorta thing. Only about 4 beers on tap. The hefe was superb though - I stuck with that one. Food was tasty and quick. Bit on the pricy side though.

I stopped here twice...once I was so piss drunk that I couldn’t remember much. The other time I was sober. I walked up the stairs and sat on the 3rd story patio overlooking the eclectic Mill St. Waitress was new and noticeable nervous. Nevertheless, she did a good job explaining the styles to me, even though she was going from sheer memory. I offered her some historical knowledge regarding the origin of maerzen, which she though was cool. She offered a complimentary round of samples, which I accepted. I chose the Schwarzbier and a small Chicken Caesar Salad (too hungover for anything else). The salad was decent enough as was the beer. Prices were decent. If you’re in Tempe and not in the Mill St. area, then you’re in the wrong place. And if you’re in the viscinity of Mill St. and not at this place, then you have issues.

Very cool place near ASU campus. It is on the second/third story of the building. The bar and patio are on the third level. There may have been a patio on the second level but we didn’t go there. We didn’t eat anything while we were there. However, the menu had a good variety of foods. It’s not your normal bar food. It’s more upscale with prices being a little higher because of this. We’ve decided we really need to go back sometime to try more of their beers and the food.
