fablo75 (8), Rome, Italy does not count - explanation | | February 4, 2010 Visited on August 2009. Great selection of vintage bottled beers and rarities on the menu, we tasted beers from 90s and 80s still delicious, in particular a superb Gale’s Prize Old Ale from 1982. Cosy place, you feel at home, there are some cats walking in the pub... The owner and his wife were kind and helpful. There isn’t a big variety of food, if you have to eat it’s better if you do it before entering the pub. If you are a beerlover you can’t miss this place. | | madthom8 (11), Twickenham, England | | January 21, 2010 Visited October 2009. Leafing through the beer list makes me sad. So much beer, so little time, I guess. | Olvadur (1), , does not count - explanation | | January 16, 2010 Located on a quiet streed not so far from the "Green Market" and therefore centrum is this golden gem of the beer world.
Owned by an eldrly coulple that stand them selfs in the bar.
Price is known to be exellant as you are paying similar prices for a 5-10 year old flask beer as you are paying for a pint in centrum.
The only thing to watch out for is that this pub is not good for allergic people as cats roam the place and the dust from the storage/cellar can get the best og one.
The beer selection is on the other hand wonderful :)
I was in there a couple of year ago and bought a bottle of 37 years old brewery that had retired before I was born.
Both having a good selection on draft and the widest selection of both europeean and international beers this is one you will not forget as long as you may live.
Kulminator is like Rome.
One you have been there you are always wondering when you will be able to go there again. | | Misticbeer (14), Rome, Italy | | December 30, 2009 The most impressive bar in the world. Great vintage selection, very nice price, wonderful ambient.
My personal paradise beerbottle place! Have to try! | | erway (41), Albuquerque, New Mexico | | November 30, 2009 The single greatest beer bar in the world bar none. Nothing comes close...Seriously. Come with a full stomach and a WHOLE lot of EU cash cause they don’t take cards and to try and do this cheaply misses the point entirely. | | BarrelRoller (10), , | | November 10, 2009 Classic world-class belgian beer bar...Thank you Dirk and your wonderful wife. Not a huge draft selection but plenty of bottles to keep busy with. Did 8 year verticals of Chimay blue and Orval and finished with a vintage Goudenband. A few others might have slipped onto the table but if you travel to this area stop and enjoy. Truly a great beer bar! | | rutilius (11), , Italy | | October 31, 2009 Very nice pub. Impressive selection and rarities in menu. To Try, to try, to try! | | gyllenbock (30), Stockholm, Sweden | | October 27, 2009 Visited on a Saturday evening in October 2009.
Fantastic place about 20 minutes walk from Antwerpen-Centraal railway station.
Kulminator is not a big place, about 45 seats or something like that. The beer menu is huge, it was not easy to decide what to order. I drunk Chimay Bleue 2000 and 1994, Pannepot Vintage 2005, Belle-Vue Kriek 1995, Courage Imperial Russian Stout 1983, Gueuze De Troch Cuveé Chapeau 1999 and finally a Westvleteren 12 from 2004. The beers did not cost much. Chimay Bleue 1994 was 10 Euro, the Westy did cost 12 Euro. I also had a cheese platter, no other food was available except for potato chips.
The owners, Leen and Dirk were friendly and helpful, their English was quite ok. Quite smoky inside, and cats were running around inside the bar. It felt almost like visiting some old relatives, the bar was full of old beer commercials and plants. Really worth a visit! | | BombsGuide (18), , Italy | | October 17, 2009 One of the best pub in the world! Selection is simply amazing... beers from 80s, 70s still drinkable and enjoyable! Food is not the best but acceptable... | | pivnizub (283), Bochum, Porúří, Germany | | September 18, 2009 Gorgeous place ! I guess all is said about this well known cafe....... Nothing to add! |
