I think the best beerbar in Belgium! Where can you better find beers from the mirco-breweries of Belgium? This is the place!

I had been waiting to visit the Brugs Beertje for awhile and got to over the Christmas holiday when my wife and I took a trip to Brugge. This place just has a wonderful vibe and homey feel to it. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a large crowd in the front but the owner motioned for us to go to the back room where there were a handful of tables. The back area I believe was smoke free and was less noisy than the front. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender that quickly gave us a huge beer menu and we started the reading process. When we were there they had about 5 drafts and a great bottle selection. Over the course of 2 nights we had a few Christmas beers on draft, including Still Nacht. We also got a bottle of De Ranke Kriek and Rodenbach Vin de Cereale. There were a few rare treats I wanted that had recently sold out but no worries, the menu is extensive. The last night we visited we were there until about 2am, well past closing time but it didn’t seem like they had any interest in kicking people out as everyone was just hanging out and chatting. This place has a vers social atmosphere you will love.

I came especially from Gent to visit this place because when I was staying in Bruges a few days earlier the place was closed since it was a Wednesday. I got there right at the time they opened there were already a few other people waiting outside for someone to open the door. Beer list is quite good, but really not many stuff really interesting. Most of the stuff on the tap was widely-availabe stuff. Service was OK even when the place was packed. Why does this place have such a high rating? It’s definitely a decent place and is worth a visit if you’re in Bruges but nothing stands out and it’s far from being on the same level as Kulminator, DHVL, Bier Circus etc.

Visited on a Tuesday, little street of to the side. mj covers it below. Lots of sour stuff, nothing rare, but usually aged. Seems like there is a lot of stuff not on the menu, as I saw people having the Cuvee de Ranke and I asked for it as well but it was not in the menu. Little food dishes are decent. Small and cozy feel, cool old bottles over the bar. Daisy seemed cool. While I was there there were 2 US brew writers who met with 2 local brewers and we chatted up 2 profs from Alabama, that made the visit a lot more interesting. But in general it was not as superb beer wise as other legendary beer cafes.

Opens at 4pm. Inside it’s a small cramped barroom up front with some tables in the back room. Beer list is certainly good, but I was sort of expecting something better... no, not the level of, say, Bier Circus or Delirium, but I had a hard time finding anything new or interesting on their menu. A lot of gueuze and kriek but you can find that stuff at the cafe down the street. I finally settled on a mid-aged bottle of Mort Subite Oude Kriek, which was a good choice as it has a fully developed sourness and it somewhat rescued what was becoming a disappointing visit. Recommended, for sure, but I do not think that ’t Brugs should be considered on the same level as the other legendary beer cafes of Belgium.

Met Daisy. Had beers. Spoke with locals. Except for the excessive smoking, it hardly gets better anywhere.

nice place... good selection of Belgians, great glassware, good service, nice beer, just off the main drag through this odd little town.

Great atmosphere, small little place. Lots of wood, lots of character. Our receipt for the evening is hand written on a piece of paper. I love it. Decent selection is not sufficient to wow me after a few days in Belgium but its a pretty solid list that I probably would have gone nuts for earlier in the trip. We had cheese and pate plates which were darn near perfect for the moment, just enough food. Service was friendly and a good mix of available but not obtrusive.

I wasn’t too crazy about this place. With such a great selection down the street at Hotel Erasmus, ’t Brugs felt like a bit of a fallback destination. Good to see a bunch of Belgian taps, though, and the atmosphere was nice.
