August 8, 2009 A perfect place to taste beers.
If Jerome is in the place just ask him about beers |

July 20, 2009 Hidden away in a residential neighborhood, this beer cafe is a real find. It’s like stepping into the 60s. It’s rustic and funky, and it’s got real character. The barkeeper (owner?) is very colorful and so are his patrons. He may not have as many beers as some of the other cafes, but they are well-selected so you are sure to find something that will please you. Brugge closes early, but De Kelk is open until the barkeeper feels like closing up -sometimes 3am. |

July 15, 2009 Let us get serious. This place has not even got a noticeable sign. Inside it is like stepping into something from the Haight 40 years ago. Except the beer selection is so much more than would have been possible back then. The owner let Marcus and I browse in the back. Pulled out Tsjeeses Reserva and another Struisse. When we put them on the bar he got excited. He pulled out a 18" high chalice for the Tsjeeses. We got four good beers, and the tab was like really low. If you are in Brugge for beer, it is a must stop. The owner knows his beers and brewers. He talks. Excellent English. Don’t miss this place. |
