| eManu (22), Brussels, Belgium | | October 30, 2009 [ Updated November 25, 2009 ] Nice selection of Belgian beers and nice layout. Good location, just off the Grand Place. Just that it is a real tourist place and that the prices are very high. Noticed they sell the Westy 8 for 8 Euros. | | gyllenbock (19), Stockholm, Sweden | | October 28, 2009 Very central location, close to the Grand Place. Great selection of Belgian beers. Friendly staff although the shop was full of tourists.
Westy 8 did cost 8 EUR, the small bottles did cost 2,50 in most cases.
They sold not only beer, the shop was full glassware, openers, shirts and other things.
Visited in October 2009. | | Feinschmecker (51), Seattle, Washington | | September 19, 2009 Around the corner from the Grote Markt. This is without a doubt a tourist trap. It is worth however checking out the selection which is amazing, especially if you are not familiar with Belgium beer. Check out what they have and find it somewhere else for a cheaper price - i.e. the store is a great a reference. The prices are unbelievably expensive (Euro versus Dollar). The have Westvleteren, but with a price. You are better off checking out a supermarket outside the city center. | | fly (190), austin, Tejas, | | September 15, 2009 Was it that I came in upon rising after a long night of beer, or was the selection actually somewhat lacking? Not that they didn’t have some amazing beers, but it seemed the selection had a lot of "holes" in it. (and the help the day I was there was close to nasty) | | Beerlando (43), Orlando, Florida | | September 3, 2009 Located in the heart of the most touristic area in all of Brussels, this place is short on ambiance. But what it lacks in that area, it makes up for with a stellar beer selection....the best I found within the city. The glassware collection was also extensive and impressive, loaded with rarities such as the Drie Fonteinen gueuze glass and novelties like the Mogonzo coconut bowl. Cantillon was well represented, and Westy 8 was on hand for a very reasonable price (the best I found during my Be/Ne/Lux trip). One problem I ran into is that the place is so loaded with tourists buying pre-packaged "Belgian beer samplers", complete with free gift-wrapping, that it was difficult to get service and/or ask questions. Cut through the crowds and the touristic hassles, however, and you’re left with a dam fine beer store with a very nice selection of Belgian brews. | | Nekronos (50), Xalapa, Mexico | | August 31, 2009 Precious place, a little touristic in prices but fair enough. Friendly staff and a place to have an orgasm just entering. | | MikeF (95), Cleveland, Ohio | | August 31, 2009 clean and orderly shop. many to choose from. easy to find in a tourist friendly area. They usually have some westvleteren - but you may have to ask. worth a stop if in the area. reasonable prices. | | altonbrownd (71), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | August 30, 2009 Quite touristy bottle shop with one half of the store dedicated to beer and one half to all sorts of stuff, glassware, openers, boxes, shirts, etc. The beer range is entirely Belgian, which is acceptable, but I didn’t really anything relatively rare. Okay place. | | Bloekie (10), , Belgium | | August 8, 2009 I bought a bottle of the limited Horal Mega Blend here. Nice cosy shop with a limited selection, but all the good brands in big bottles and proper glassware can be bought. Not a "wow" effect, but it does the trick, I guess. | | Leighton (19), New York, New York | | August 6, 2009 Ha, I’ve been here. Nice little store. The walls are lined with shelves holding a vast menagerie of Belgian brews. When I visited this shop I was a beer novice and didn’t really know what I was looking at. I would like to return... |
