Ah, so much more room to breathe. Cosy atmosphere and helpful staff. Nice big terrace that wraps around the corner of the building, which is great for the two weeks of summer in Belgium. Get a growler or two, because they’re hilariously affordable.
Visited several times, latest September 2016. Lovely corner bar. Seatings both outside as well as inside. Friendly, serviceminded staff that know their stuff about beers. Great selection of beers both on tap and a very nice bottle selection as well. All served in good condition and with a smile. They do some lovely barsnacks, cheeses and sausages. Free Wifi ( doesn´t work downstair though ). Another lovely place to visit, and revisit when in Brussel.
Called here on a Thursday evening in September. We walked from the Marolles district, which took 20-25 minutes. There was a cheese and beer tasting event on in the downstairs area, and most seats outside were taken, on a very warm day. We had a choice of seats inside, and sat next to an open window. Service was swift, informative and friendly. Beer choice was good and interesting. Decent prices. We asked for some meat and cheese to eat, which wasn’t really a menu option, but given the tasting going on, was readily obliged. I found this place more comfortable and relaxed than the other Moeder, and is definitely worth the effort needed to find it. Nice place.
Located in a fairly quiet residential area. Outdoor seating with table serving and same menu for snacks and food as the other Moeder Lambic. Staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The beer selection is devided between guests and regulars with around 30 different beers in total spanning many different styles. There is also a small bar in the basement, but that was not in service when I visited on a regular weekday. The bottle list had some rare offerings from Cantillon and 3 Fonteinen, but unfortunately many were sold out. Cozy place to enjoy some beers and they have growlers at fair prices as well.
After several visits to the Fontainas location I finally made it to the Original. It is smaller and tucked in a residential area but offers the same food and nearly the same beer. This weekend was an Irish Beer Festival so they had a dozen or so Irish craft beers available, along with the standard Cantillons and other Belgian beers. Our service was pretty good in this Brussels beer icon.
