Visited recently for swift a Gueuze Lambic on holiday in Brussels. Fantastic oldy-worldy (as my wife called it) style interior, great banquette seating, and a reasonable beer menu. The staff are old-school, clad in waiter apron/tabard and very professional in their duties. Well worth a visit if you want to get into the feel of what it would be like to enter the early 20th Century.

It’s one of several downtown Brussels bars where you can sip a Trappist and appreciate the atmosphere. I highly recommend investigating the impressive urinals as well. This is a fairly famous art nouveau cafe worth visiting in its own right. But no, this is no place to come and tick off beers.

No sure what this place is doing on ratebeer. Belgium is full of those generic pubs, there would be 1000 entries for Brussels only if we were to add all pubs that have Chimay on the menu. Nice looking pub, prime location in the heart of Brussels tourist area. Beer selection is 5 boring taps and a limited menu. Elderly people seems to constitute most of the client base. Didn’t try the food as I moved on after a look at the beer menu.

Brilliant bar for having a slow Orval and losing a hour or two. Its like stepping back 100 years - original fittings, attentive waiters decked out in full apron, old boys at the back having lunch. Not the deepest beer selection, bit pricy, but so what - this is a real treat.

In this world of changing fashions this place is an utter delight. You would be hard pressed to find a London pub or North American bar with the original Victorian fixtures and fittings like Le Cirio. Even the toilet facilities were antique. The waiter was an elderly gent who took a lot of trouble to help me choose a beer, carefully explaining the differences between them.

Old people´s cafe from 1886 which used to be an italian owned grocery store. Not so crowded with tourists. Lots of smoke at evenings.

This place is a great 1850’s cafe beside the old Bourse in Brussels. It is a 5-minute walk from the Grand Place. The place has been opened for close to 150 years with almost no change in the decor. The choice of beer is limited but the service is great. This is more of a must see place for the beauty of the architecture and the nice terrace then for the beer selection. Nice place to sip a beer before going out afterward to one of the trendy bar or the nice restaurants beside this café.
