Superbe endroit pour déguster les bières de l’une des meilleures brasseries au monde. Les prix sont incroyablement bas et le choix de dégustation est exceptionnel. Inoubliable expérience.

My favorite brewery anywhere!!! Can’t imagine anyone changing my thoughts on this one. Get a few beers from the monks up the road then spend the rest of the day here. These guys are as creative as any American brewery with all the polish of the Belgians.

Visited on a Saturday after stopping at St. Sixtus. Unusual building and we were initially not sure if we were in the right place. Tried several of their beers including Shark Pants IPA, Barrel aged Black Albert and Pannepot. They only had 3 beers to purchase that day including Ypres and Rosse. Bought several of each, great beers. I also saw they have a beer shop in Bruges with many beers for sale but they unfortunately were closed the day we went.

Great adventure going to Oostvleteren, thanks to Carlo i got my hands on one of the last Ignis&flamma’s @ deca. Had a great tasting session; black mess, lion claws, werbels, woody albert,.. Don’t remember much of the end of the night though..

Very neat set up here. Converted school into the brewery. It’s small and that adds to it’s charm. The tasting room is set up as a classroom with desk and chairs with a lesson on the chalkboard. Off to the side is a very large panel of taps with a great deal of their beers, some standard, some rare, all good! Every single person who works here has a passion for beer and it comes through when they speak. Very cool place and a must if you are in the area.

This place improved a lot over the last year. The tap-trailer offers an amazing selection!! 15cl taster for about 2-3 euro. Rare stuff like Black Berrie Albert, Pannepot Wild, A&J and the new Weltmerz. Carlo and Urbain are two really amazing, friendly and passionated people. Selection of beers you could buy was rather mediocre (about 7 beers), but the taptrailer makes up for it greatly. Only downside is the fact you can’t sit down to enjoy a beer if there’s a lesson going on, but they are working on that issue! Huge thanks to Carlo and Urbain for the warm welcome!!

A cool place to visit if only to meet the men behind the operation. Probably a pain to get there by public transportation. We drove and it is very close to In de Vrede. If you visit one, you will want to visit the other. Something to note about this place is that IT IS NOT a good place to buy rare cool Struise bottles. They brew something and they sell it. They don’t seem to stack up for visitors. So basically what you can buy there is what was recently brewed. Very limited selection. They sell beer from their friends (De Molen, Alvinne, others…). They have free tastings. If you want a good selection of Struise Bottles you’re much better off at the Alvinne bottle shop. Strange, but that’s how it works. Anyway I really liked talking to the people. It was not a big detour from In de Vrede. And the place is just charming.

There is honestly nothing bad you can say about these guys except for the fact that it is too freaking far away. Thx. Sebletitje for driving me here. Carlo was friendly as always, Urbain was his own brilliant self. The beers are phenomenal, varied & always interesting and not only among the best of Belgium but in the world. This is one brewery you cannot help but love I feel. They have now 30 beers on tap, you can always find new interesting experiments, new beers etc. Some more standard offerings are available for sale at fine prices. Carlo gives a highly informative class about brewing, interestingly I got the impression that the # samples that you get & what he charges you depends upon your interest & attitude. The fact that this located inside a school gave this quite odd vibe to me which is neat. Great place, great beers, always lots of new things to try, great people. Everyone insist on going to Westy to sit at the family restaurant whilst this is so nearby. Only downside is the distance, simply to far away with me especially considering that I don’t own a car.

Visiting this place is exactly like going back to school. A classroom filled with bench and tables, blackboard...hilarious posters of the brewery, oak barrels, good collection of vintage bottles, samples of hops and barley and a selection of 30 beers on tap. You get a beer lesson and of course rewarded with tasting of your choice. Really friendly atmosphere and had a good discussion with fellow classmates. While leaving the classroom, you see crates of beer on the corridor..Prices are really good. Definitely worth a visit for an unconventional beer tasting experience.

Visited on Saturday 20th October at around 3pm. We hit the tail end of an organised coach visit so had to wait 15 or so minutes in a queue to purchase beer. Beers are simlpy laid out in crates down the corridor of the former school. No real rareties on this visit, perhaps with the exception of Kabert which you don’t see in too many places (well not in the UK anyway). The tasting room had a cool vibe and is in an old classroom where you sit at wooden school desks on rickety old chairs. At the front of the room are some large blackboards with brewing information chalked up on them. We chatted to Carlo in the tasting room who explained a few brewing methods to us between serving beers. Some good stuff on tap (15 cl pours for between E1 and E3) that I’d not had before including Bompon, Black Damnation VII, Rio Reserva and AA. Urbain popped by on our visit and found time to make a joke with us. Looking forward to my next visit already!
