crashingpig (5), , does not count - explanation | | October 3, 2009 good food, beer too cold and cloudy, not cheap ,plenty of parking at rear no samples | | JohnnyJ (29), Carlsbad, California | | August 20, 2009 Nice building and location. It was good to visit, but not the best beer around. The beer is okay, just not comparable to many otehr san diego breweries. Food was pretty good. Nice atmosphere. | | yemenmocha (61), Glendale, Arizona | | August 10, 2009 Coronado island is great for touristy stuff such as viewing the San Diego skyline, and this brewery is a 2 minute walk from a nice lookout across the water.
Nice brick structure with ample seating for the volume of customers. Most beers were rather average, as was the food. This is one of those places with the (supposedly) funny signs about free beer tomorrow, if you don’t like the service then you can leave, etc.
Service was good though, and prices were very reasonable for San Diego.
Although beers are average overall, their red is above average and worth seeking in the bottle. Seasonals on tap are worth trying also.
| | NEA (10), California | | August 7, 2009 Would not recommend this place for food or beer. Nothing unique here. 3 drink maximum... enough said | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 1, 2009 Getting to Coronado means buying a ticket at the ferry booth. They pass every hour and take about 20 minutes to get to destination from which you have less than a 10-minute walk to reach the brewpub. While the place looks like a modern restaurant, it still feels vacation-like being there. Since SD does not really have so many world-class brewpubs in its inner city, I found the detour well worth it, enjoyed two fine pints of IPA and a tasty hummus plate. The service was straightforward, but prompt and the prices were actually lower than I expceted. All in all, a worthwhile destination that I’d call a must if you spend anything over two days in the city. + it’s pretty much on the way to Hotel del Coronado if you intended to visit that spot. | | sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | May 24, 2009 Nice place right across the the bay bridge, recommend a little visit to Chicano Park before jumping on the highway to Coronado.
This is a nice island in what seemed to be the high end of San Diego bay. Cozy brewery, with nice menu and samplers.
The beers weren’t as good as expected.
My fav was the nut brown, service was ok.
Nice walking distance to waterfront view. | | Taverner (77), San Ramon, California | | April 10, 2009 Nice place, even though they have a THREE PINT LIMIT!?!?!? Fits in with Coronoado’s laid back atmosphere. Good food, good beers, friendly folks. | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | March 3, 2009 (Visited 07/2008): Coronado Brewing is located not too far over the bridge from San Diego on Orange ave, near the water. There is street parking on both sides of the establishment.
The exterior is brick and hanging baskets. The inside is nice, with lots of wood and brick and greenery. The bar area is on the left side, with restaurant seating on the right.
The beer selection at CBC is fair. They range from Golden to ESB to a couple IPAs. The beers were all average to above average. Our server told us there were no samples available but a quick trip to the bar proved her wrong.
Service was decent on a weekday evening. Despite our server not bothering to even try to get us a couple beer samples, the bartender made up for it.
The food is pretty good, I had a fish sandwich that was very tasty.
Overall the beer alone is not reason enough to visit here, but the location and food tip the scales enough to make it a worthwhile stop. | | robforbes (18), Bremerton, Washington | | November 30, 2008 nice relaxing place. fire place when you walk in, looks just like your typical restaurant.
service was good, attendants were attentive and helpful.
selection of beer was okay, they had there own brews and then a few others to choose from.
food was great! had a nice steak, something that i was craving after been without for 6 weeks, being out at sea and all.
the price was what you would expect from coronado, a little bit pricier than other communities. course this is were all the richie riches live.
overall it was a pleasant experience, the beer is not that great, good but just nothing to remarkable. | | jsh12bama (12), Alabama | | August 23, 2008 More restaurant feel than brewpub. Had a good draft list but would not allow samples. Food was very good. Beer was average. |
