Visited on August 16, 2009. This place is interesting. It reminds me of a rustic maple sugar camp for bikers. The patio in the back is twice as large as the pub itself and overlooks the Russian River and is quite enjoyable. Food is basic pub fare. The beers are very reasonable, and the Fossil Fuels are quite good. No samplers but you can get free tastes, if you ask nicely. Warning, the toilets are freaking dirty!

Right next to the main Guerneville to Santa Rosa road (River Road), this Brewpub sits next to the river amongst the Redwoods. It is a great place for dinking the afternoon away on their great deck. General clients are aging hippies, harley riding hairy bikers (of the good sort) and a few tourists quenching their thirst. Beer selection isn’t extensive but that helps me choose faster and there is usually something on tap for all tastes. Also, once a year it host a beer festival in mid August. I will report on this when I have attended this weekend. The food is pretty good, if a limited menu. The burgers, ribs and asiago garlic fries are great. The kitchen looks clean and the food and bar service is good. The restrooms are awful though. Pegs on standby folks. Come on guys. Some clorax down the bowl occasionally would be appreciated. Apart from this I can recommend the place.

I’m not sure if this place is racist or not, but YES it is racist. Place smells like a Dirty Proctologists office. The meth seems to be of a VERY STRONG Strain. I did see some Bear Republic on tap, but since I’m Mexicano, there was nothing available. The fries smelled good.

It was a medium cold January day. I took off my shirt, and went in wearing a black tee. Kept strong eye contact. Got smiles from the female wait staff, and good service. During an hour I saw only one fellow (out of 30 or so) enter wearing a shirt with a collar. The deck was a bit cold, so I retreated to the interior. The bar is pretty funky, but the kitchen looked cleaner than clean. Highly recommended, if you can merge in with aging hippies and bikers. Maybe those were not hippies.

April 2008 - Visited on a gorgeous California afternoon and enjoyed the drive to get here. The Stumptown back deck, overlooking the Russian river is worth the time to check out alone. They had a pretty good lineup of visiting brews in addition to a small number of house brews. We had hummus, which was excellent. The crowd was an interesting mix between bikers and what I’d call old-timer California farmer dudes. (Brewery #458, 4/10/2008)

I had a desire to rate this really highly due to Joe’s assessment and him tsill being willing to drag my ass in the place. Maybe it was good day, but the service was a degree above suck. They did seem to want to ignore us, but we got our beers and the simple deck looking over the river was nice. Guess if you’re an illicit smoker you might like this place also as they have a part of the patio marked "MaryJane Way" and evidence points to it being used for just that. Few taps, but having Bear Republic and Russian River did nothing to lower my opion. Some good fries, but didn’t check any other food.

This is the most hilarious place I’ve ever visited in America. I’ve gone four times and I don’t know why I went the lat three. Maybe to amuse myself with their policy. First, the beer is okay. A newish Rat Bastard is often a very nice companion to river watching out back but you’re lucky or patient to get it if you don’t look right. I’m not sure if the folks are racist or not. I honestly can’t tell. I go in there and whoever is bartending refuses to serve me. The walk around look busy and then when they’ve helped everyone eelse, they leave the bar and start doing chores. No matter if there are only 10 people at the whole place. If I stick around for longer than 10 minutes, they will serve me. Some say it’s if you wear a collared shirt or not. It’s true I was the only one there wearing a collared shirt. In any case, this is not a friendly place at all but it is pretty funny and totally harmless.
