RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Paddy Giffen and Brendan Moylan are the brewers at Moylans and have built a strong and varied line of beers. The beers get big points for their excellent Kilt Lifter, IPA, Barley Wine and Imperial Stout. They aren’t afraid of high ABV (and big helpings of hops!) and pitchers are only around $10, so it’s good to bring a designated driver. Moylan’s is an easy stop off the freeway in Novato.

Ramenen | The ambiance was more like a Friday´s, very commercial. The service was great, the hostess was from El Salvador so she was extra nice with us, nice job Tessa. They had about 7-10 beers on tap, and all of them above the mark.

doubleo | What an unassuming looking location. The building looks like it could have been a Chili’s in its previous life. Anyway, I was very excited to go here and wasn’t disappointed. Very clean, professional type bar/restaurant, well lit, not that big, quite a few taps, of all Moylan’s/Marin Stuff. No Hopsickle unfortunately, but they did have Wild Turkey BA Ryan O’Sullivans on cask. Very tasty. Had an appetizer that was good, nothing to write home about, but quality. Reasonably priced, apparently they have some other BA stuff behind the bar in bottles to go, but you have to ask for it. I didn’t know... That’s just what I hear, BA Kilt Lifter to be specific. Anyway, stop in here and then go to the BevMo in SF on VanNess and buy some White Knuckle.

WeeHeavySD | With BikesandBeer we were beat after 2 other better breweries, this was a stop we took for shits and giggles, it was ok, kinda dead and there was only one draft exclusive which was a little dissapointing, other than than it was fine.

Wulfstan | We ate here on one time when we were going through Novato and really needed to stop. We didn’t have the beer since we were starting on a road trip, but what we did experience was awful. The ambience was not at all good, being rather like a soulless, lame brewery-meets-Applebee’s (and I DETEST Applebee’s and places like it), the service was ok, but not grat and the food was terrible. We got a type of pasta that was absolutely swimming in very salty, garlicky, but otherwise bland, water borwn liquid. It was terrible. The rest I seem to have forgotten, but it was not good. We have not been back.

unclemattie | I was overall, a little unsatisfied with this RESTURANT. The service was not satisfying. It took us a long time to get a beer from the bar with three bartenders present. It seems to have an Irish Pub vibe with a little TGIFriday’s morph. The selection was a little light. That is a good sign, with them rotating quickly, it means freshness. At least the beer they did have was fresh, if I got served. Food was much better than the service. Try it though, you might have better luck!

bhensonb | It has real ale - usually two! It has seasonals. Go for the cask ales!!!!

ratman197 | Lots of interesting stuff hanging on the walls. The service was’nt as good as when I’ve been there in the past. THe girl behind the bar did’nt seem to know much. She asked me if I needed another beer when I had about @ inchs left, so I ordered another one. She brought it and then tryed to take my unfinished 1st beer!!! THe beer selection is always great. Definitly worth visiting.

Naven | pretty nice brewery/restaurant. The selection was somewhat limited, but all of the ones I had were good. Staff was made up of young college girls who were rather uninterested in their customers. The chicken wings I had sucked. Overall, pretty nice place, but not spectacular.

fly | Great beer and decent atmosphere, fair food. Not overwhelmed, but was very glad Joe took me there and they do have (limited) beers for purchase.
