June 2, 2005 FREE happy hour mini buffet Tue-Fri with crispy wings, German potatoes and meatballs. Discounted pitchers and pints.
Biergarten is a fun alternative to the dining rooms. It gets uncomfortably hot in the winter, due to the fact that there are twenty space heaters in the relatively small space.
Servers are knowledgeable about the beer, but service is relatively slow. Better to get a pitcher to split with a friend than two pints, or you’ll be sitting staring at your empty glasses for quite a while.
Food is outstanding. Personal favorites include goulash soup, giant pretzel, sea schnitzel (squid steak), and potato pancake.
There are doubtful any other spots in SD with this many German brews under one roof. Last I went, they had 3 pils, 2 marzens, a few lagers, a krolsch, an alt, a bock, and maybe a couple others. Good stuff.

August 16, 2004 For German food and beer in San diego, this is the place. Located just when you get into Ocean Beach, it’s on the left. Parking is also available in the back. Authentic sauerbraten as well as weinerschnitzel. Entrees are a bit pricey. Happy Hour is worth it, $2.50 pints. |
