Went here back on St. Patti’s Day. What a dump. I had been there once before and they had some great Ballast Point stuff on, but not this time. Just the standard 3 or 4 BP selections, Alaskan IPA, and the rest were mostly BMC. The whole place smells pretty funky and I believe they got a B or C from the Health Dept. I had an Alaskan IPA and either the lines were dirty or the overall stench of the place had invaded my beer. The bartender could have cared less if I was there or not but he sure was happy to see the Bud Light delivery guy.

Been here once, for iceman’s goodbye party. Definitely a dive bar with character. They had several Ballast Point beers on tap, that you won’t find in bottles.

I practically grew up in this bar. From sneaking into Meatwagon shows when it was the Texas Teahouse to sleeping out back one night after a pretty raucous New Year’s Eve party. Their selection has improved dramatically over the years with the addition of several local San Diego beers as well as the usual suspects for those with no taste buds. Their chicken wings are unique and delicious. If you ask nicely for extra hot wings, they’ll try and kill you with them. This is a good thing, really. Very laid back and very "locals". This is one bar I cannot get kicked out of, and I’m pretty proud of that because I’ve pulled some very silly stunts there in my time.

If you check the Stick’s webpage, the main picture of the storefront pretty much says it all. But don’t let the array of pool cues hanging in the window fool you - many of them are crooked and the lone pool table itself is a bit worn. But that just adds to the divey charm of the place, I suppose. The Stick is dog-friendly, but thankfully most people know only to bring well-trained dogs. For the most part, you won’t get stuck with a menacing pit bull drooling at your knee as you wash down that cheesesteak with a pint of Exponential Hoppiness. Beer selection is surprisingly decent for the diveyness of the place, but also sort of random. It is hard to determine the logic behind the proprietor’s handle decisions sometimes, but it is good to see that he takes chances. He usually has a strong IPA handle at the very least, with additional local micros. The food is excellent for standard barfood: best wings in OB if not all of San Diego, decent cheesesteak (and I’m originally from Philly), and a variety of other tasty and often greasy sandwiches. Great fries too. Good stuff, and worth the stop if in the area. Note that it says "do not piss off bartender" under the staff description. This translates to: the bartender tends to ignore you and instead watch tv or chat with pals. Expect to wait for a beer, even when business is slow..

A dive bar with great food and even better beer. About 20 beers on tap, including local stuff that you can’t find in a bottle. Best place to hit after a game on Robb Field.
