Checked in while waiting for my wife at a painting class. Mainly because I had never stopped in before. Pretty nice bar actually, lots of space, nice look and feel to it. Pretty empty on a Tuesday night, but so was everything else, so no biggie there. They had four of their own beers, plus 4 or 5 guest taps running. I asked for a flight and got their four in cool 4 oz tasting glasses. ABVs not listed on the menu or board, but the bartender knew them when I asked. Beers were ok with the exception of the cask ESB, which I really enjoyed. Did not try the food. All in all not a place I would go looking for, but you could do worse.

This place is right on the main road (Santa Clara St) next to San Pedro Square but because of that parking can be scarce, or at least I didn’t know where to look. Ordered a flight but was told since they only have 4 of the house beers that we wouldn’t be getting our money’s worth. Instead she was nice enough to give each of us a taste of each beer and just charge as each a half pint. Paid $8 subtotal for both sets plus a $2 tip.

The place was empty and quiet but then it was 15 minutes after opening time (walked in at 11:45 am). The girl serving the drinks was really nice too but since it wasn’t even noon yet and we were sampling beers and still had a long way to go we didn’t stick around all that long.

If you’re going for the ratings and you have a choice between the two locations go to the brewery in Los Gatos as they’ll have a lot more stuff on tap. The upside however is that this location is in San Jose, which is a little closer for a lot of people and theres another place rating right around the corner (same building) called O’Flaherty’s. Didn’t eat though I did notice that the food prices were a bit high.

Decor is standard bar restaurant, nothing special, but nothing wrong with it. The service was good, friendly and helpful. The beer selection is fine. There were several beers on tap, mostly from the Los Gatos brewery, but several others also. The menu looked good and the meal I had was very good. The price seemed reasonable; but as I am from overseas I may not be properly calibrated. I will definitely return.
