| Lubiere (177), Ottawa, Ontario | | August 29, 2009 An old train depot converted into this classy brewpub, with a warm decor, eye pleasing. Friendly service. Only 3 beers made onsite, with around 10 interesting guest taps (Russian River Pliny, Duchesse de Bourgogne) a Upscale pubmenu. mix of US micros and belgians in bottles. Free samples given out. | | dchmela (52), Orlando, Florida | | July 8, 2009 Cool little out of the way place on the northern California. I liked two of their three house beers and they had a good selection (albiet small) of other brewers like Alaskan and Moonlight. The beer garden was nice and the food was very good. | | Barreras (12), Diamond Bar, California | | June 8, 2009 I was very excited about this place but ended up very disappointed. On-line they boasted many rare and unique beers, but when I got there, they were all out. The beer menu was outdated, had to order 5 different beers before they had one I wanted, and the waitress looked at me like I was speaking a different language when asked about beer. The place looks cool, and the food is okay. Overall a bad experience, hope if there is a next time I visit it is better. | | heemer77 (171), Savannah, Missouri | | January 4, 2009 A very cool looking building. Inside, I especially loved the lit up taps. The food I tried was trying too hard to be upscale and was barely palatable to me. However, I am sure those that want something different and pseudo gourmet will dig the food. The beer I had was decent, but served too cold. The service was good and informative. Overall, I was not impressed. | bradlyc77 (6), Sebastopol, California does not count - explanation | | December 15, 2008 Kind of a let down. At least 4 beers on the website and on the menu were not available. Selection was about 8 beers or so and 3 Hopmonk brews. Food is just ok, inside is nice and nice beer garden outside for warmer months. Music venue is sweet. I would much rather make the trek out to Barley n Hops. | | kmweaver (113), Sebastopol, California | | November 18, 2008 After spending the afternoon walking around Sebastopol and realizing that it was the first place we’ve seen in two and a half months of driving that we could actually see ourselves living in for an extended period, this place (which we happened to pass by and didn’t know about beforehand, with the site down) was the icing on the cake. Gorgeous bar and dining area, knowledge bar staff, and the kind of beer garden and outdoor patio (even couches) that makes you want to forget about the rest of the day. Had the Ommegang Rouge on tap and lots of other solid California micros. Really cool bar and beer garden that we’re looking forward to going back to soon. | | iowaherkeye (24), Los Angeles , California | | October 1, 2008 Stopped here last night after a day at the beach. The outside of the building looks like the old stone building from a few hundred years ago. Inside, fairly modern chic that made me feel slightly underdressed, but no one seemed to mind. Of the 20 beers listed on their website, they had about 8 on tap (3 house beers, Houlon Chouffe, Pliny the Elder, Anchor Liberty, New Belgium Mothership, Alaskan Summer, and maybe one other {so 9 then}). Out of Moonlight so I was sad. We took our beer out to some couches by the fountain in the biergarten, and even though it was slightly chilly (an employee offered to get us a heater but we declined), it was very niceseemed like I was transported back a few hundred yearsgravel and dirt ground, some baby hop plants. It’s kind of hard to describe, but this place really couldn’t have looked much cooler. Didn’t try the food, but looked at the bar in the back where they have live bandssmall stage and room for maybe 80-100 people. My only bitch is that the tap selection wasn’t that greatI also didn’t bother looking at their bottled selection. | | DYCSoccer17 (187), Davis, California | | July 6, 2008 I visited this place briefly while in town for a wedding on July 5th. This is located in a really old stone building that I think was a train station or something like that. The font room has a bar with a few tables and a musical stage and dancefloor. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around back to the biergarten. They had about 20 taps and about 80 bottles with a couple beers on cask. They definitely had a really good selection of brews. The menu was fair enough, but the prices were very steep for what you get. I got a turkey sandwich with kettle chips. Small portion and average at best. The one bartender we had was attentive. I did not get to see the restrooms, etc. | | Naven (54), Poway, California | | July 5, 2008 Probably my new favorite spot in Sonoma County. While there are certainly places that have better taps, Hopmonk has a very good menu, a super nice vibe, with a great bier garden, good service and a very good selection of beers. It’s definitely nicer than your average brew pub, but lacks the pretentiousness that I often see at places like this. Prices are very reasonable. The beer menu caters around the season, so when I went (July) they had an expansive menu of wits, pilseners, IPA’s, etc. They have three house brews, which are currently brewed by Gordon Biersch. There are plans to brew on premise soon. The house brews were very good. The waitress said they plan on always having Pliny the Elder on tap. Don’t miss this place. | | doubleo (16), San Diego, California | | July 3, 2008 Visited 3 times during my week long stay in Sebastopol 6/22/08-6/27/08. Probably one of the favorite beer stops of my trip. I didn’t count the taps but judging by the website there are about 20. All quality stuff on draft. 3 house brews that were all pretty tasty. Food is good. I had the Blue Bird Sandwich and the Sausage sandwich both were very good. Prices are reasonable. My party of 4 adults got out of there for just over $100 with more food than we could eat a couple shots and some beers. The restaurant is rustic/modern, bier garden is spacious and relaxing. They have a stage and seperate bar for shows as well. Check it out! |
