Probably the best place in all of Ottawa to find a continually updated selection of craft beers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff in a laid back atmosphere. If you're in Ottawa and a beer geek. This place is a must. | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 kiwi_zg (16) , New Zealand | January 26, 2013 Nice gastro pub, food is pricy. Tap beer selection is good, but the Beaus and Kichesippi are kind of gateway style craft beers. The beers i tried on tap we’re the Spearhead Hawaiian Pale Ale and the Flying Monkeys SmashBomb Atomic IPA, which were great. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 sseb69 (29) Gatineau, Quebec | December 1, 2012 Pour diner. Belle sélection de bières en fût locales, service attentionné. Mon repas était excellent. Il devrait y avoir plus de ce genre de pub. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 2/10 OVERALL 15/20 rejtable (58) Ontario | June 20, 2012 Great upscale place that manages to balance beer crowd with upscale food. Lots of great Ontario taps, their list wouldn’t be topped by too many in Ottawa. Food was pricey, but really good. Service was top notch. | 58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 pushkinwow (70) Ottawa, Ontario | February 25, 2012 Now been here twice for dinner - have to say although the idea is good I think I prefer going to a good food place and then somewhere else for beer, at least when this is the choice. Food is tasty but overpriced for what you get (IMHO) and compared to other similar restaurants in Ottawa; beer selection is decent, has access to some of the limited releases from Beaus and supports local breweries but lots of places that have a much better selection in Ottawa. That being said you are bound to find some Ontario beers not available elsewhere in the city. Would recommend stopping in for lunch if you want to visit. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 MrManning (60) Hamilton, Ontario | July 10, 2009 An excellent stop if you are in the area. A classy bar in an upstairs location. Very modern and clean. Food is upscale, though I did not have any. But everything looked inviting. 5 Micro taps that rotate, plus a few bottles of micros as well. Service was friendly and attentive. I had a Camerons auburn which was fresh and tasty. No macros in sight which is always a good thing. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 CapFlu (190) Victoria, British Columbia | September 3, 2008 The previous places at this location were dirty and with poor food selections. The Wellington Gastropub is now considered one of the top 5 restaurants in the city - and it really is that good. I sampled the Walleye on Lemon Mash which was sublime. The tap selection was better than average with numerous micros but of middle-quality. I sampled the Robert Simpson Confederation Ale that was mildly diacetyl and totally boring. The website needs updating as they claimed a Scotch Irish Corporal Punishment and Church Key West Coast Pale Ale on draught and a few others which weren’t available. The only thing holding the Wellington from being the #1 beer restaurant in the city is the upstairs location and the lacking robust draught beers. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (412) Ottawa, Ontario | April 10, 2007 Formarly, the Lt. Pooley’s, then the Tartar, now opened as the Wellington Gastropub. And now, they have a worthwhile selection of beers...only five, but the selection rotates at least once a month. Tonight, they had Amsterdam Two Fisted Stout and Mill Street Wit (I havent seen those at other places here), Scotch Irish Corp. Punishment, a Wellie SPA and Beau’s (who are now brewing in Van Kleek Hill..will have to give it another chance). The ambiance is rustic and warm, with old tables, the menu changes daily but is on the upscale end of price (still, very good). Pints are 5.50$, a 3 beer sampler is 8$ (about 6 on. per sample). |
