In courtyard few minutes by foot from Koutland. It was Sunday around 11 am, both waitresses were inside smoking, but they refused to serve us because they officially work from 12. I’ll have to look elsewhere for Chodovar beers.

Has a very local feel and total kitch value, especially thanks to the easy listening country pop band that was playing when we were there. And a fine place to tick off the Chodovar beers even if they are mediocre.

The place looks like a newly built wood cabin... or a doghouse! But hey, they got some pretty good Chodovar beer available, and a small but nice enough beer garden with some shaded picnic tables. Prices were roughly 17 and 25 czk for 1/3 and 1/2 liter mugs, respectively, which is a good price for the area. Throw this into your walk when you go out to Koutland (go here first).

I guess you could count me amongst those who didn’t find all that much excitement in the Chodovar beers (they’re fine, just not great) but there’s plenty to get excited about at this place. It looks like the kind of pub that should be out in paddock somewhere, but instead it’s in the middle of a light industrial estate - car wreckers etc. On a Saturday it has a pretty weird vibe because there aren’t any workers. I can’t figure out why it would even open, but sure enough there was a sufficient number of drinkers there to justify it (like everywhere in the Czech Republic). The inside area is part log cabin, part 50s Americana, and the outside features the old school bowling alley, some random drunks and their friendly dogs. Food is pretty standard fare. Utterly surreal and fantastic - go there.
