| Dedollewaitor (75), Odense, Denmark | | November 20, 2009 8 beer sampler where only their 2 regular beers are drinkable - unfiltered pils and dunkel. And they were very very good. On a monday night we were lucky to get a table. Sat in the basement and waitor couldnt speak or understand English. We manged with side language. Non smoking. | | KnutAlbert (150), Oslo, Norway | | November 20, 2009 Go for their tmavy and svetly, the novelty beers are not up to much.
Splendid goulash and good service. | ralphdot (5), Billingham, England does not count - explanation | | November 20, 2009 Great place with a good choice of beers, I had a Banana Beer with Beer Cheese to eat. | karakarakara (4), , China does not count - explanation | | September 19, 2009 They had mirrors positioned so you could see part of the brewing process while you ate.
The beers were crazy, purely for novelty aimed at tourists, and not that good. But, of course, I was a tourist in Prague, so I sat back and ordered the sample plate of six beers--with flavors including Nettle, Sour Cherry (not a lambic--tasted like medicine), Blueberry, Banana, and Coffee! A bit of fun, but there was no need for seconds, we left with beer at the end of our tasters, and we were on to the next bar. | | Skinnyviking (63), Copenhagen, Denmark | | August 1, 2009 Hot and noisy room. A good deal of people present and I think the stone floor is a bit unfortunate. Service was extremely quick and friendly. Food: Nourishing, cheap and boring. Sampler with 8 beers. Great. The majority was very sweet. On the other hand the place is absolutely worth visiting. | | fata2683 (23), Panama City, Florida | | March 17, 2009 Stopped in at opening, had the sampler, the Samp, Stout and seasonal Marzen. Beers were good and cheap. Service was good, restaurant had cool brewing historical pieces. Beer cheese was good. Recommended. | | Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | January 28, 2009 A rather large pub. Sits about 100 in two rooms. Far from a typical Czech countryside pub the interior of this one has an Irish/English pub feeling. Very clean. The beer menu is also not quite typical Czech pub. First the number of beers is more like we’re used in North America (8 or more taps) than what most Czech pubs offer (1 to 4 beers usually). Also the beer styles are quite unusual for the usually quite uniform Czech Republic. Yes they do have a few standard Czech lagers (svelté, tmavé) but they also had coffee beer, banana beer, cherry beer, etc. And a green beer! Most were disappointing when compared to the fruit/spices beers what we are used to in North-America. A bit pricey for Czech Republic but still way cheaper that what we’re used to. Crowd is mostly touristy, you won’t find many locals there, there busy drinking real Czech beer in real Czech pubs. Food was good. Service was friendly. Overall this is a pleasant touristy occidental-friendly pub that offer | | nate2g (151), Brisbane, Australia | | December 26, 2008 Great selection of beers with an OK food menu, although the food comes out ridiculously fast. The beers are the main reason to come here and some interesting beers are available. | | Borresteijn (52), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | November 28, 2008 Big bar, looks like a real beer place. Two copper tanks in the place, mainly wooden interior. Bar in the center, no stools from what I recall. Taster was nice (8 draught samples) although quite expensive for Czech standards (120Kc for 0.8L). Food was not so very good, we ordered a main course and within 2 minutes(!) we had our food in front of our noses. Needless to say, haute cuisine was not invented here. The beers were fine, especially the tmavy and svetly, the others were, let’s say, "different" . No average fruit/specialty beers, but not good either. Big plus of this place is that it’s completely non-smoking, a great relief in Prague, where everybody seems to smoke a pack a day. | | downender (116), Bristol, England | | October 7, 2008 Visited on 24/09/08. The pale and a dark lagers were excellent, the best sampled on my trip to Prague. The service was efficient and the food very enjoyable - I really enjoyed the rabbit with spatzle. The place was packed and the prices were cheap - in terms of value for money, this was the best place in Prague. An excellent place to visit. |
