| jbender (18), Hatboro, Pennsylvania | | September 19, 2009 While a little pricy, Iron Hill was a good place to go to have some real beer. Would often go on Wednesday nights to get around the cost. Their vienna red is extremely good, but for first timers, I would suggest getting their sampler (like I did my first time there). Food was very good as well. I especially enjoyed their burgers. Definitely the place to go if you’re looking for a slightly classier place in a college town. | | guzzler67 (25), Hanover, Maryland | | August 22, 2009 Was there on a warm summer evening, so we avoided the aforementioned college crowd. The standard selection of Iron Hill beers including a very nice hoppenweissen, Belgian style wit and a cask conditioned IPA. . Large menu, diverse enough for most people. Our food came out quickly and was well prepared. Bartender was attentive but not chatty or overly friendly. Overall: nice atmosphere, fair, but not cheap prices, decent service, no turn-offs. (120e rating d’établissement) | | Lumpy (50), Carrollton, Texas | | February 3, 2009 Good beer selection, good location, bottles to go, great food. Parking really sucks. The parking is the only down side to the whole place. Highly recommended if you are in the area. | | beerbill (43), Laurel, New York | | September 3, 2008 We’ve been here a few times, most recently on our way home from Florida. We parked on the street, but parking can be an issue, and you will be towed if you park in the wrong lot. Good selection of beers, although their pints were a bit pricey, even for a New Yorker like me. Their 750’s are expensive, mostly in the $18-$22 range. Extensive menu all well prepared and served hot. The nacho appetizer came to the table quickly as was terrific. Our dinner was slow coming to the table as it was a crowded evening. Then, I had to wait for the sour cream for my baked potato and ate most of my prime rib before it was finally brought to the table. Lively atmosphere. Worth the visit. | joeymacaroni (2), West Chester, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | August 24, 2008 been here a couple times. nice patio looking out at the main strip in newark. good beer, good service, cool style, not bad at all. the bruschetta is pretty good. goes well with the beer. sweet potato fries are phenomenal. | | GMCC2181 (18), Bear/Elkton, Delaware | | February 28, 2008 [ Updated December 21, 2008 ] I dont want to copy eaglefan538 but exactly what he said. Good food, good service, decent beers. Their house beers are nothing special but some of the seasonals and 750ml bottles are awesome. Pricey, as, is everything else at Iron Hill. Parking is always a pain in the butt. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 13, 2008 Not a bad place to go for a decent brew. I don’t find the beer to be outstanding or the service that great (college town). However, their menu food is normally pretty decent and their rotating selections are worth seeking out. The reserved buffet food that was setup for a group (business) was only fair on two separate occassions... stick with the regular menu. | | kseecs16 (141), Naperville, Illinois | | November 9, 2007 Nice little patio in an active part of town on Main St. Big square bar, but the place feels a bit stale and commercial over all. The info on the beers being brewed by the brew house was cool though. 1 cask offering when I was there. Food was good with some interesting options. | | beachbum25 (53), Powellville, Maryland | | May 13, 2007 [ Updated May 14, 2007 ] I was here on a nice spring Saturday afternoon & enjoyed this place quite a bit. Had outside seating for "people watching" in a bustling little college town: modern simplistic looking wood interior w/a glass wall into the Brewery. Sat at the bar & had a samlper; they give you a sample of everything on tap. Had 9 beers for $6 bucks, including 2 versions of their Porter (Cask & Tap). Some good brews, some misses. Friendly, knowledgeable bar staff who could actually talk @ their beer & answer questions. Food was very good, had an excellent Smoked Chicken Quesadilla. Was told they fill up in the evening on weekends when school is in session, so I’d avoid it then. Parking was an issue. I’d recommend it, would like to go back for one of their beer dinners or events where you get a chance to meet w/the brewers. I’ll have to try & get to one of their other locations. |
