This pub-style restaurant and bar just opened in Newark, DE, where Shaggy’s used to be, upstairs from Grotto’s pizza and across from Brew-ha-ha. From a beer perspective, I’m happy for the change. This place does not have any rare beers, but it certainly has a very large number of beers on tap, including many that you cannot find on tap nearby. Hands down, it has the largest selection of taps in town. Some of these are macros, but they do have a number of the more well-known regional beers, including things that can be hard to find on tap anywhere, and I was happy to find the local up-and-coming Twin Lakes, which in my opinion is a top-notch brewery (and only available in local bars and restaurants: no brewpub). The atmosphere in here is very dark, but and fairly diverse: you can sit on the outdoor patio, and there are a number of different types of seating areas inside, including cozy booths, big tables in interior areas, and little tables near the windows. The music is loud but not unpleasant, and overall, I think this place has a better environment than some of the other places on main street. The food? Decent, but greasy and heavy. I prefer to eat elsewhere, but I will say the desserts are worth trying. The service here was very good.
