| berkshirejohn (79), Bracknell, England | | April 29, 2008 An old fashioned boozer with a good range of ales and good service. Not particulatrly appealing, and not the sort of place I’d choose to hang around for long. | | Fin (95), Merton, England | | September 13, 2007 Didn’t spend a lot of time inside this pub as the beer festival I attended was out the back, but there appeared to be a good range of pumpclips and staff jolly decent. Not in the most desireable of areas but not too far from the town and close to the river. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | August 26, 2007 Again, a very old building, just by the River, about halfway between The Alexandra Hotel and Exeter Arms (5-min each). Not particularly nice location, by a big industrial parking, but the river is on the other side. Small and effective stop with around 8 casks offering a varied range. A most worthy stop, very welcoming, but not in the city’s very top. | | DJMonarch (83), Northwich, England | | February 27, 2006 Another of Derby impressive old pubs. Arc shaped stone building which stands out in the now sparse former market area.
Very busy at lunchtimes and although I didn’t try the food it did smell very good!
Good ale selection and a couple of rooms to choose from. | | imdownthepub (85), Banbury, England | | November 23, 2005 In the growing gloom of a winter evening, this is particularly ifficult to find. Near an industrial estate, by the river, but it is worth it. Very well kept and decent beer list, didn’t investigate a bottle holding. A little basic inside but friendly and welcoming. Another good basic Derby boozer. | | haddonsman (56), Derby, England | | May 10, 2005 Cracking little pub away from the throng. Used to be the market area, now just has the evening newspaper plant next door. Great beers from Oakham and Whim plus guests, HUGE rolls, really good lunchtime food, small patio with river views, worth the short walk out the centre to find, downriver from the Silk Mill and upriver from the Alex and the Brunswick. | | Sigmund (77), Hafrsfjord, Norway | | March 7, 2005 I was there with DeepBlack in February - very quiet when we were there in the early afternoon. Great selection of cask ales - I had not time to go through them all. Didn’t eat. Close to the Alexandra Hotel and the Brunswick. | DeepBlack (8), Derby, England does not count - explanation | | February 26, 2005 Nice out of the way pub with a busy local evening scene. Sevral rooms including a child friendly one with no bar & a lovely river view from the beer garden.
Several regular ales including: Hartington IPA, Burton Bridge Top Dog, Enville Ale, and a few guest ale too.
Usually pleanty of filled rolls avaliable
