2 reviews for The Brewery Tap (Derby’s Royal Standard)
| haddonsman (56), Derby, England | | August 29, 2008 Been too busy drinking here to review it, whoops... mix of exposed brick and white walls, two bars eiher side of a central staircase leading to a few secluded chairs and the roof terrace, ground floor outdoor area. 5 DBC beers, Landlord and four guests from the likes of Abbeydale, Black Hole, Ringwood, York. ’The Rack’ offers 5 one-third pints of DBC and a bowl of cubed cheese for a fiver. Cafe-bar food available, sunday lunches planned. Foreign bottles are average choice and fantastically expensive. No ’proper’ cider, Thatchers Gold on draft. Staff all very co-ordinated with their black uniforms, always had pleasent and efficient service. Live music some nights, no piped music. Close to the bus stops so a popular place early evening. A worthy stop on a Derby crawl, especially if you want to rate DBC beers. | | berkshirejohn (79), Bracknell, England | | August 14, 2008 [ Updated September 23, 2008 ] Derby Brewing Company has renovated the old Royal Standard and renamed it The Brewery Tap (Derby’s Royal Standard). The pub is a curious combination of old and new, with lots of sand-blasted walls and bleached wood, and a roof terrace with a view of the River Derwent. 10 real ales are on offer at any time, 5 from Derby Brewing and 5 guests. A special tasting rack of 5 third pints of the Derby brews is available, accompanied by some strong local cheese. There is also an expensive range of Belgium beers and other foreign bottled lagers. |
