3 reviews for Proeflokaal
| Borresteijn (55), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | December 14, 2009 Visited on a friday night, it’s now called Gollem’s Proeflokaal. Like Martin said, quite stylish, but still cozy. Quite a lot of tables, also for dinner (special of the day for €16,-). Staff is attentive, but not too familiar with the beers. Prices of the tap beers are around €3,50, bottles are a bit overpriced but still all around €4. Nothing special selection-wise, except maybe for the Tsjeeses Reserva, but nice to just meet some friends and have some good beers like Westmalle Dubbel from tap, but not a bar to go out of your way for. | | altonbrownd (77), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | October 1, 2009 I must say I was quite dissapointed. The 4 beers I had sought out on their website (3*liefmans abdis and a dentergems wit) haven’t been served in more than a year. Second they had just been bought by Gollem, and although they now have a wider selection there isn’t a single beer you can’t get at the other well-known pubs and shops in Amsterdam. So nothing unique. That said, it is quite stylish and the do have all 3 Westvleteren for relatively cheap. | | dec23 (12), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | August 16, 2009 [ Updated October 7, 2009 ] A neat big place just outside the very centre of Amsterdam with a few nice features. First and foremost they have 22 taps. Most of the beer on tap is not so interesting usually, but among 22 there is usually a gem or two. Second, they have regular evenings with live jazz music, trivia quizzes and other nice extra activities. Furthermore it has a nice outside seating area which is ok despite being next to a major street, and it has a spacious second seating area for smokers inside. The selection is something which prompts the conclusion that it was not really conceived by beer afficionadoes but by people commercially running a beer-pub and doing their homework on what to have on stock. It features good staples but comes across as a bit uninspired. Staff are nice and attentive but some are a bit overenthusiastic ... I had a boy tell me that Leffe Blond on tap was really something. |
