42 Visited on July 21, 2013. Located on the corner of two streets, big outdoors seating and some indoors seating as well. Have sort of a posh feeling to it. Not a huge selection, some bottles I hadn’t seen before, but the draught selection was rather poor. Looks more like a place to get a cocktail or wine. Had two bottles here, then moved on. Surprisingly no toilet, you need to walk down a block or so to a public toilet, apparently (as of the waiter) no restuarants along south bank had their own toilets, weird if you ask me. Bar staff didn’t seem overly excited in serving a bearded bloke that walked up looking for beer, but they weren’t rude or anything, could very much improve their people skills though. Didn’t eat. Plenty of better pleaces within (for me) walking distance to go to instead of spending time here. |
50 Not a great deal going on here. A few macro owned micros on tap and a decent, though not special bottleshop. More for the wine drinkers I believe. |
78 Great food and wines. Good beer selection and in the cellar [bottle shop]you on the way to beer [and wine] heaven. Friendly & approchable staff. Well done 5th Element. |
52 OK so the main focus in this bar is wine and spirits, no doubt, but some handy beers available if you’re wandering around the South Bank area. The taps are nothing special (one seasonal but was out on my visit) but the attached cellar can have you ordering a few fistfuls of Rogue, Flying Dog, Meantime and some local Micros. A real nice looking establishment though and a laidback spot for a drink. There’s plenty of restaurants in Little Stanley St close by so I usually check in for after dinner drinks. |
