Visited when in Bruges, last year. It’s in a cellar, making this pub Beer cellar "the Attic" (=zolder), which was a nice contradiction imo, especially when you’re looking for a place called attic, you don’t look down.. Maybe that’s why it was quiet when we came in? Very nice bar though, a bit dark and real cellar-like but still warm and cozy, good solid beerlist with a few rarities. Nice bar if you don’t want to be in the touristy crowds of the market place.

At he other side of the ’Poatersgat’ you also have a beer pub, but a much smaller one. On a saturday night you have to be lucky to find a place to sit over there. But when you are settled on a chair you are in an atmospheric cellar with darkened lights and some music (different styles) playing on the background. Although this place is known as a beer pub you might be a bit disappointed about the little choice of beers you have: only the general stuff, like lambics and trappist beers, and some abbey beers (St Bernardus) but for the rest nothing more special. You can also eat at ’De Zolder’, but I except a portion mixed I didn’t eat there something yet, so you’ll have to find out yourself :) The service is very friendly, but you pour out the beer yourselves in the glass. Oh, and recommended is the Rochefort 10, being 1,00 EUR cheaper than in the other bars in Bruges.

A warm and relaxing place to go on a wiinter’s night with a fire burning. Gas, I think, but still. Unfortunately, the selection was not impressive. The good thing is that you can read the beer list before you go in. The music was quite loud. I think the beer list must have been trimmed severely since the last ratings.

I got here quite early in the evening and until my third beer I was alone there. A lovely and cosy cellar bar with a fireplace and alot of beer memorabilia on the walls (as well as Jesus on the cross). Not a huge beer list (about 60 beers maybe), but very good choices including Lambics and some small belgian breweris. I really enjoyed there, probably my favorite place to have a relaxed evening in Bruges.

My wife and I visited De Zolder on a recent trip to Brugge. We were intrigued by seeing the front door from the street and when they opened we went in. It was not very busy as it was early but with the fireplace and breweriana all over, we felt at home. The draft and bottle selection seemed really well thought out and we would have stayed for more drinks if we didn’t have dinner plans.

A cozy, romantic, brick-cellar pub that’s a few blocks removed from the bulk of the tourist hordes. When we were there it was nice and quiet, just the place to savor a few beers. Menu is not loaded with rarities, but plenty of quality with Drie Fonteinen, De Dolle, Ellezelloise, Dupont, Hanssens. Kapittel Abt among the drafts. Recommended, especially if ’t Brugs Beertje is closed or just too crowded for you.
