76 Now reopened selling Beerfort range of beers. I like this place because it’s cheap and cheerful. |
72 Odd little place, open the door and immediately walk downstairs. Heavy must smell permeates everything, but you get used to it after a while. Pallet and bench seating, small bar with a few stools but really to order at rather than sit at. The walls are scribbled with the beers available in bottle; I never did see an actual taplist anywhere though -- there were a few little signs but it was not complete. The one bottle I ordered was out of stock, so don’t expect them to have everything. Taplist was interesting, mostly hungarian but I ordered a 3 Floyds German collab. Guy behind the bar was nice and friendly, spoke English with a British accent, but was borderline competent -- he said it was his first day, which makes me wonder why he was left alone to run the place. Oh well. Not bad, but there are better choices in Budapest. |
80 Visited on a weekend trip to Budapest. We walked here from our hotel. The bar is located in a basement. Seating is made from pallets and is reasonably comfortable. 6 beers on tap, also a selection of bottles. The beer quality was decent. |
88 Nice basement pub near Kálvin tér. They have 5 or 6 Hungarian beers on tap and several Hungarian and import (mostly German) ones in bottles. If the selection were a bit broader, it would be one of the best places in town. There are board games and chess available and the service is decent and helpful. I will most definitely return in the predictable future. |
74 Whar a strange place. Cellar bar more styled like a cartoon than a british pub. Friendly service but not english speaking. Not a brewpub but they have their own beers. 6 taps and over 60 bottles mostly german. A place to return to. I didnt spot one tourist. |
82 Great small pub near Raday street and the Vasarcsarnok market. Nice selesction of international beers and of course some hungarian craft beers too. |
80 A small basement bar as is common in Budapest. This one is a bit brighter than the average joint though. The owner/brewmaster was manning the taps and was extremely helpful. I tried the house ale and recommend it. Tv showing Champions League football was a very welcome surprise. Most craft beer bars are too up their own asses to air sports. I liked that. The owner offered us some traditional Hungarian bar food (white bread with fat and onions) which may or may not be a usual thing, but we appreciated that. Good selection of current Hungarian craft beers both on tap (4) and in bottles (approx. 40 varieties). Cool spot! |
78 Nice little basement bar in the 9th district. They brew their house ale and also keep some other self brewed beers. They also have a nice selection of Hungarian craft beers and some exports too (mostly from Germany). There is a TV in the bar so you can watch some sports there. When we were there, the owner was behind the counter. He’s very helpful and helps with selecting the beer. Definitely recommended. |
